Bıttım sabunu is a natural soap unique to the Southeastern Anatolia Region, particularly produced in Siirt. Made from the wild pistachio (menengiç) fruit, this soap is known for its beneficial effects on hair and skin health due to its natural oils. The production of Bıttım sabunu begins with the careful processing of selected menengiç fruits. Harvested typically in September, the fruits are dried, ground, and kneaded to extract their oil. The obtained oil is then boiled with water and natural lye for approximately 12 to 16 hour. After this prolonged boiling process, saponification is completed. The semi-liquid soap is poured into molds and left to cure in open air for three day, after which it is ready for use current state.
