Engin Günaydın was born on 23 January 1972 in the Erbaa district of Tokat province. After completing his primary education in Erbaa, he began his higher education at the Hacettepe University State Conservatory; in his second year, he transferred to the Architect Sinan University State Conservatory and graduated from the theater department.

Günaydın began his career in 1997 with a role in the theater play "Otogargara" at step. In the same year, he gained widespread recognition for portraying the character Zabıta İrfan in the television series "Bir Demet Tiyatro". In 2001, he won the Best Supporting Male Actor award at the Ankara Film Festival for his role as Necati in Zeki Demirkubuz's film "Yazgı". In 2004, he started performing sketches on Okan Bayülgen’s program; in 2005, he achieved major breakthrough success playing the character Burhan Altıntop in Gülse Birsel’s series "Europe Yakası".

In 2009, Günaydın wrote the screenplay for and starred in the film "Vavien", directed by Taylan Kardeşler. He received a series of awards for this film at the Istanbul Film Festival, Yeşilçam Awards, and SİYAD Awards in the screenplay category. He also played the lead role in the television series "Galip Derviş". Known for his stand-up performances, Günaydın staged his show titled "O Hikayedeki Fabric Benim".

In 2012, he shared the Best Male Actor award at the Adana Altın Koza International Film Festival with Ilyas Salman for his performance in the film "İçimdeki Ses".

2001-2004 - Zaga: Günaydın became known for the short sketches he performed on Okan Bayülgen’s television program Zaga between 2001 and 2004. During this period, he continued to take roles in films and series. In 2003, while appearing in the TV series "Hadi Uç Bakalım" and "Alacakaranlık", he portrayed the character Sencer in Uğur Yücel’s film Yazı Tura (2003).
