Dr. Ömer İleri, an electrical and electronics engineer, academic, administrator, and politician. He has conducted research in wireless communication technologies, spectrum economics, and game theory. He serves as Deputy Chairman of the AK Party responsible for Information and Communication Technologies. He was elected as a Member of Parliament for Ankara in the 28th Term of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye in the 2023 general elections.
Dr. Ömer İleri completed his undergraduate education in 2001 at Boğaziçi University in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department. He earned his Master’s (2003) and Doctorate (2007) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey–New Brunswick in the United States. In 2011, he completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Istanbul Bilgi University.
Academic and Research Activities
From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and taught courses at Middle East Technical University and Gebze Institute of Technology. He served as a doctoral faculty member at Sabancı University and Turkish Air Force University. His academic work has focused on wireless communication technologies, microeconomic game theory, and spectrum economics, and he has authored numerous international publications in these fields.
- From 2009 to 2011, Dr. Ömer İleri worked at TÜBİTAK as a Scientific Program Specialist and later as a Senior Researcher.
- From 2011 to 2014, he worked as Director of R&D Operations at Avea.
- From 2014 to 2015, he served as Director of Engineering at Cypress Semiconductor Corporation.
- From 2015 to 2017, he was Product Director at Mimosa Networks.
- From 2017 to 2020, he worked at Amazon’s Luxembourg office as Senior Product Director and Senior Program Director.
- In September 2020, Dr. İleri returned to Türkiye and served as Director of R&D and Graduate Policies at Sabancı University; he was also a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
- On 24 March 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the AK Party responsible for Information and Communication Technologies at the 7th Ordinary Congress of the AK Party. He was re-elected to this position at the 8th Ordinary Congress of the AK Party.
- In the 2023 general elections in Türkiye, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Ankara in the 28th Term of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
