Damage assessment surveys indicated that 35 hectares of forested land were affected. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire, and planning for reforestation of the area has been announced.

Muğla

Forest fires occurred in the first days of July 2025 in the Milas and Fethiye districts of Muğla. In the Pınarcık and Demirciler neighbourhoods of Milas, the fires were combated with five aircraft, six helicopters, 29 all-terrain vehicles, water tankers, construction machinery and 139 personnel. The fire in Demirciler neighbourhood was brought under control through coordinated aerial and ground operations. Firefighting efforts continued in Pınarcık neighbourhood.



The fire that broke out in the Esenköy neighbourhood of Fethiye district was quickly brought under control due to rapid response. Some bee hives were damaged in the fire. Additionally, a fire ignited in the pastureland of Çobanlar neighbourhood in Seydikemer district due to sparks from a welding machine; flames did not reach nearby homes and were extinguished.

Antalya

Forest fires also occurred in the Muratpaşa and Serik districts of Antalya. In the Güzeloba neighbourhood of Muratpaşa district, a rapid response brought the fire under control within a short time.


In the Yumaklar neighbourhood of Serik district, a fire that began on 4 July 2025 spread due to wind damage to shrubland and olive groves. The fire was brought under control through coordinated aerial and ground operations by response teams.

Çanakkale

A fire broke out on 2 July 2025 in agricultural land in Dondurma village of Çan district in Çanakkale. It was determined that the fire originated from a combine harvester. The fire was combated with seven aircraft, three helicopters, 16 all-terrain vehicles, one bulldozer and 98 personnel, and was brought under control quickly. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the combine harvester operator.

Şırnak

Forest and vegetation fires broke out in the Gabar Mountain region near the Güçlükonak-Siirt border, affecting the villages of Yarımca, Kırkağaç and Yenidemir. Response teams from the Forest Management Directorate, gendarmerie, AFAD, Provincial Special Administration and municipal fire departments conducted both aerial and ground operations. A helicopter under the jurisdiction of the Şanlıurfa Forest Regional Directorate also provided support.

Balıkesir

A fire that broke out in an olive grove at the Sinek Boğazı location in the rural area of Atatürk neighbourhood in Edremit district was brought under control after approximately four hours of firefighting. On 8 July 2025, a forest fire erupted in the rural area of Kürendere neighbourhood in Sındırgı district of Balıkesir. The fire was combated from both ground and air, and after overnight operations, it was brought under control on the morning of 9 July 2025.

Bilecik

A fire that broke out near Vezirhan town’s Ertuğrulgazi neighbourhood was brought under control with three helicopters, one UAV, 30 all-terrain vehicles and 37 other vehicles. On 10 July 2025, a fire that started in agricultural land in Gölpazarı district of Bilecik spread to forested areas. The fire occurred at the Taşınburnu location along the Gölpazarı-Yenipazar road. Upon receiving the alert, the Forest Management Directorate, fire and gendarmerie units were dispatched to the area. Both aerial and ground operations were conducted, and cooling operations were initiated around the perimeter of the affected area.

Kastamonu

A fire that began on 9 July 2025 in agricultural land in Örhenli village of Taşköprü district in Kastamonu was caused by sparks from a baling machine and spread to nearby forested areas. The fire, which rapidly expanded due to wind, was combated by the Forest Regional Directorate and municipal fire departments. With helicopter support, the fire was brought under control, resulting in damage to approximately six decares of agricultural and forested land.

Tekirdağ

A fire that broke out on 9 July 2025 in a wheat field in Çıkrıkçı neighbourhood of Hayrabolu district in Tekirdağ expanded due to wind and spread to surrounding agricultural land and partially to a military area. Firefighters, gendarmerie and military personnel responded to the fire. Approximately 70 decares of wheat, 60 decares of sunflower fields and 700 decares of stubble land were damaged. The fire was extinguished through coordinated efforts by response teams.

Uşak

Multiple fires broke out in various areas of Uşak during the first week of July 2025. A fire that started in agricultural land near Derbent village spread to forested areas due to wind. The fire was combated with 23 all-terrain vehicles, three helicopters and two aircraft. The landowner and the baling machine operator were taken into custody in connection with the incident.


In the fire near Kızılhisar village in Banaz district, one farmhouse and one livestock farm were evacuated. Additionally, fires in Eşmetaş and Ağabey villages in Eşme district approached residential areas, prompting the precautionary evacuation of 20 homes. These fires were combated with numerous all-terrain vehicles, construction machinery, four helicopters and three aircraft.

Kırklareli

A fire that broke out on 9 July 2025 in a harvested wheat field near Yündalan village in Kırklareli spread to forested areas due to wind. Two aircraft, one helicopter, numerous fire department and Provincial Special Administration vehicles responded to the fire. Military personnel also provided support. Approximately 900 decares of agricultural and forested land and a two-storey house were damaged in the fire.

Other Provinces

Aydın

A fire in agricultural and shrubland areas in the Kırksakallar neighbourhood of Çine district was combated with three helicopters, two aircraft, 11 all-terrain vehicles and four water tankers. Approximately two hectares of land were damaged.

Eskişehir

A forest fire that broke out in the rural area of Seyitgazi district was brought under control and cooling operations were carried out.

Kahramanmaraş

A fire that broke out in Andırın district was quickly brought under control.

New Fires in Türkiye Between 11–16 July

Tekirdağ – Şarköy (11 July 2025)

On 11 July 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area near the Çokal Dam in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ. The fire spread rapidly to the neighborhoods of Kızılcaterzi and Sofuköy in Şarköy, affecting an area of approximately 150 hectares. To bring the fire under control, five aircraft, four helicopters, 15 all-terrain vehicles, 15 fire trucks, and 279 personnel were deployed. Local residents supported firefighting efforts by plowing field edges. As a precaution, some homes were evacuated.

Bursa–Balıkesir Border (12 July 2025)

On 12 July 2025, a fire occurred in a forested area along the border between Mustafakemalpaşa district of Bursa and Kepsut district of Balıkesir. The fire originated within the jurisdiction of the Balıkesir Regional Directorate of Forestry and spread to surrounding oak and shrubland areas due to wind conditions. A response involving eight aircraft, seven helicopters, 36 all-terrain vehicles, 12 water tankers, and over 350 personnel was launched. Thanks to intensive efforts by the teams, the fire was brought under control the same day.

Istanbul – Aydos Forest (12 July 2025)

On 12 July 2025, a fire broke out in the Aydos Forest near the boundary of Sultanbeyli district in Istanbul. Responding teams from the Istanbul Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department intervened. Thanks to aerial and ground support, the fire was brought under control within a short time. Investigations into the cause of the fire found no evidence of sabotage.

Kırklareli – Demirköy (12 July 2025)

On 12 July 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area near the village of Sivriler in the Demirköy district of Kırklareli. Firefighting and forestry teams deployed to the area responded both from the ground and the air. The fire affected an area covered with oak and pine trees, damaging approximately five hectares of forest. The fire was extinguished the same day following coordinated efforts by the teams.

Balıkesir – Altıeylül (13 July 2025)

On 13 July 2025, a fire broke out in agricultural land near the rural neighborhood of Ovabayındır in Altıeylül district of Balıkesir. Fueled by wind, the fire approached the forest boundary but was brought under control due to timely intervention. Five all-terrain vehicles, three water tankers, and two helicopters were deployed. There were no casualties, and damage assessment operations have begun.

İzmir – Urla (13 July 2025)

On 13 July 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area near Gülbahçe neighborhood in Urla district of İzmir. Teams from the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry responded with two aircraft, four helicopters, 10 all-terrain vehicles, and over 50 personnel. The fire was quickly brought under control, with approximately 10 hectares of land affected.


Konya – Doğanhisar (14 July 2025)

On 14 July 2025, a forest fire occurred at the Davras location in the Güvendik neighborhood of Doğanhisar district in Konya. Teams from the Konya Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Metropolitan Municipality intervened. A total of 11 all-terrain vehicles, five water tankers, four construction machines, three helicopters, and one aircraft were deployed. Precautionary measures were taken in surrounding neighborhoods to prevent the fire from reaching populated areas, though some agricultural land was damaged. The fire was brought under control.

Kastamonu – Hanönü (14 July 2025)

On 14 July 2025, a stubble fire broke out in the rural area of Çaybaşı village in Hanönü district of Kastamonu. Fueled by wind, the fire expanded but did not spread to nearby forested areas and was brought under control. Three all-terrain vehicles, two water tankers, and one helicopter were deployed. Approximately 40 decares of agricultural land were damaged, with no casualties reported.

Çorum – Central District (14 July 2025)

On 14 July 2025, a fire broke out in cultivated agricultural land in the central district of Çorum. Seven vehicles and 20 personnel from the Çorum Municipality Fire Department responded. The fire was quickly brought under control, damaging approximately 15 decares of wheat fields. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Antalya – Akseki (15 July 2025)

On 15 July 2025, a fire that started in a pasture area in the Bademli neighborhood of Akseki district in Antalya rapidly grew and reached residential areas. Three houses were damaged, two cattle and one small livestock animal perished. Response efforts involved two helicopters, four all-terrain vehicles, three water tankers, and over 60 personnel. The fire was extinguished in the evening, and cooling operations continued throughout the night.


Tekirdağ and Çanakkale (15 July 2025)

On 15 July 2025, a fire began in a non-forested area in the rural part of Şenköy neighborhood in Şarköy district of Tekirdağ. Fueled by wind, it spread as far as the rural area of Kavakköy village in Gelibolu district of Çanakkale. The fire affected a wide area, causing damage to agricultural land, forested areas, and livestock farms. As the fire reached Gelibolu, certain areas in Kavakköy were evacuated as a precaution. A total of 21 aerial vehicles, over 100 ground vehicles, and approximately 700 personnel were deployed in response efforts.


As of 17 July 2025, the fire was declared under control. Cooling operations and area surveys continue at the fire site.



During the fire, a sheep trapped in a farm located between Gelibolu and Şarköy was rescued from the flames by volunteers of the SAR Search and Rescue Emergency Aid Association. The sheep, suffering burns and smoke inhalation, was transported to a safe zone and handed over to the Coast Guard Command. Damage assessments for other animals and farm structures affected by the fire are ongoing.

Forest Fires Occurring Between 20–25 July 2025

Uşak Fire

On 20 July 2025, a fire broke out in a stubble field between the villages of Belkaya and Dağdemirler in Uşak and spread to nearby forested areas due to wind. Response efforts involved one aircraft, six helicopters, 39 all-terrain vehicles, three construction machines, 17 initial response units, and 243 personnel under the Denizli Forest Regional Directorate. After overnight operations, the fire was brought under control. Approximately 30 hectares of forested land were damaged.


Bilecik Fires

On 20 July, a fire that began in stubble between Karaköy village in Pazaryeri district and Kurtköy village in the central district of Bilecik spread to forested areas. Fueled by wind, the fire was largely brought under control through ground operations overnight.



Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumaklı reported that the fire originated outside forested land and spread to the forest, where it was quickly brought under control. During this period, one citizen, Mehmet Türk, sustained minor burns.


On 22 July, a fire broke out at a farm in Gölpazarı district and spread to forested land. The fire started in a hay storage area, engulfing a stable and resulting in the death of 95 head of small livestock. The fire was quickly contained, and cooling operations continued.

Sakarya-Geyve-Bilecik Fire

On 20 July 2025 at around 17:10, a fire broke out in a non-forested area near Hacılar Neighborhood in Geyve district of Sakarya and rapidly spread to adjacent forested land. Fueled by wind, the fire reached the boundaries of Osmaneli district in Bilecik the following day.



A total of 871 personnel, six aircraft, 12 helicopters, and 195 ground vehicles responded to the fire. Due to dense smoke and fog, aerial operations were suspended until the morning of 21 July. The villages of Taşoluk, Hacılar, and Kızılöz were evacuated as a precaution; three houses, one stable, one hay storage, and four abandoned structures sustained damage.



On 21 July, the fire crossed into Bilecik’s borders, prompting the evacuation of the villages of Kızılöz, Büyükyenice, Kazancı, and Borcak in Osmaneli district. Access to Büyükyenice was blocked by police announcements; local residents supported firefighting efforts using tractors and irrigation tankers. Wind speeds occasionally reached 50 km/h, making the fire’s path unpredictable.


According to damage assessments by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, a total of 12 independent units were recorded as destroyed or severely damaged, seven of which were residential.


As of 24 July, the fire had not yet been fully contained. Due to intermittent flare-ups caused by strong winds, a section of the Sakarya-Bilecik highway between Mekece and Vezirhan was temporarily closed to traffic. The villages of Kızılöz, Büyükyenice, Kazancı, Borcak, Medetli, Ciciler, and Selçik in Bilecik were evacuated. Local residents supported firefighting efforts using water tankers and tractors.


The dense smoke generated by the fire spreading into Osmaneli district of Bilecik, carried by wind, reached the center of Bursa. The city was covered by a smog-like haze, with rooftops and vehicle surfaces coated in ash. The Bursa Metropolitan Municipality issued advisories urging residents to keep doors and windows closed, avoid storing flammable materials outdoors, wear masks if suffering from respiratory conditions, and avoid going outside.

Eskişehir-Seyitgazi Fire

On the morning of 22 July 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area near Büyükyayla Neighborhood in Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir. Response efforts involved three helicopters, one aircraft, 14 all-terrain vehicles, two water supply units, three dozers, one grader, one Beko loader, two TOMA units, one ambulance, and a total of 119 personnel from emergency medical services, AFAD, the Red Crescent, gendarmerie, and fire departments. Firefighting operations are ongoing.

Sakarya – Karaçam-Balaban Fire

On 23 July 2025, a fire broke out in the Balaban area between the neighborhoods of Karaçam and Nuruosmaniye in Sakarya. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Teams from the Forest Regional Directorate, fire departments, search and rescue associations, and municipal authorities were deployed to the area. Due to steep terrain, aerial intervention was also employed. Nuruosmaniye Neighborhood was evacuated as a precaution; flames that jumped to nearby grasslands near some homes were brought under control by local residents and helicopter support. The response included four aircraft, five helicopters, 10 all-terrain vehicles, construction machinery, and 84 personnel.

Sakarya – Akyazı-Boztepe Fire

A fire that broke out during the night of 22–23 July in Boztepe Neighborhood of Akyazı district in Sakarya was brought under control by gendarmerie, Forest Management Directorate, and fire department teams. The fire occurred close to residential areas. Civil society organizations and neighborhood residents also supported operations. After extinguishing the fire, cooling operations were initiated in the area.

Denizli – Belevi Fire

A fire broke out in a forested area near Ballık Boğazı in Belevi Neighborhood of Çal district in Denizli. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Response teams included one aircraft, two helicopters, 11 all-terrain vehicles, two construction machines, 13 initial response units, and 106 personnel from the Denizli Forest Regional Directorate. Firefighting efforts continue both from air and ground.

Karabük – Burunsuz Village Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 22 July at the Cildikısık location in Burunsuz Village, under Karabük’s central district, was brought under control after 18 hours of combined aerial and ground operations. A total of 87 vehicles and 316 personnel responded; approximately 55 hectares of black pine forest were damaged. Some homes were evacuated as a precaution. Authorities confirmed that the fire’s origin was outside residential areas; the cause remains under investigation.

Karabük – Safranbolu Fire

Forest fires occurred on 23–24 July 2025 at the Mezarlık location in Çavuşlar Village of Safranbolu district and the Merkez Mahallesi market area in Kışla Village of Ovacık district. Aerial and ground firefighting operations are ongoing. Daytime suppression efforts, supported by helicopters, continued overnight via ground teams. As a precaution due to fire risk, a total of 10 villages in Merkez, Safranbolu, and Ovacık districts were evacuated.


Regarding the fire in Ovacık district, a village resident, B.K., was taken into custody by gendarmerie for being present at the fire site and reportedly under the influence of alcohol. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect.


As of 25 July, the fire entered its third day. Daytime suppression efforts continued via helicopter, while nighttime operations were conducted from the ground. Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz announced that 14 villages had been evacuated and that some houses, hay storage units, and stables in Kamış Village had sustained damage.

Antalya – Kaş Fire

A fire broke out in a forested area in Üzümlü Neighborhood of Kaş district in Antalya. Response efforts involve helicopters and all-terrain vehicles from the Antalya Forest Regional Directorate. The cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed. Firefighting operations are ongoing.

Manisa – Demirci Fire

A fire that started in agricultural land in Öksüzlü Neighborhood of Demirci district in Manisa, following the explosion of an electrical transformer, spread to forested areas due to wind. Response teams included two aircraft, two helicopters, four all-terrain vehicles, two water tankers, and fire departments. Local residents supported operations using tankers. The fire was brought under control after approximately four hours of intervention.

Manisa – Yunusemre Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 23 July in Kayapınar Neighborhood of Yunusemre district in Manisa was brought under control on the morning of 24 July through combined aerial and ground efforts by the İzmir Forest Regional Directorate and fire departments. Cooling operations are continuing in the area. An investigation has been launched to determine the fire’s origin.

Antalya – Aksu, Muratpaşa, Manavgat and Gazipaşa Fires

Forest fires broke out on 25 July in forested areas of Kurşunlu Neighborhood in Aksu district, Güzeloba Neighborhood in Muratpaşa district, Güzelyalı Neighborhood in Manavgat district, and Doğanca Neighborhood in Gazipaşa district of Antalya. Response efforts involved eight helicopters from the air and 32 all-terrain vehicles, two construction machines, 186 forestry personnel, and TOMA units under the Provincial Directorate of Security. In Aksu and Muratpaşa, as the fire approached residential areas, police announcements prompted the evacuation of some homes.

İzmir – Buca Fire

A forest fire that broke out near Kaynaklar Neighborhood in Buca district of İzmir was met with aerial and ground response teams from the İzmir Forest Regional Directorate. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Containment operations are ongoing.

Adana – Kozan Fire

A fire that broke out at the Kuşkayası location in Enizçakırı Neighborhood of Kozan district in Adana was addressed by Forest Regional Directorate teams, firefighting helicopters, and all-terrain vehicles. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed; containment efforts continue both from air and ground.

Mersin – Anamur Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 25 July at the Sazbaşı location in Karaçukur Neighborhood of Anamur district in Mersin was brought under control through operations involving four helicopters, 11 all-terrain vehicles, and water tankers deployed by the Forest Management Directorate. Cooling operations have commenced following containment.

Afyonkarahisar – Sarıcaova Line

A forest fire that began in Fethiye Neighborhood of Seyitgazi district in Eskişehir and spread to Sarıcaova Village in İhsaniye district of Afyonkarahisar was largely brought under control as of 25 July. The Afyonkarahisar Governorate reported that the fire had been surrounded and its intensity reduced. Aerial and ground interventions continue against spot fires. Teams remain on alert in anticipation of increased wind conditions.

Ten Individuals Killed in the Eskişehir–Seyitgazi Forest Fire

On 23 July 2025, ten individuals lost their lives while responding to the ongoing forest fire in the Seyitgazi district of Eskişehir. According to a statement by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, the rescue team included five forestry workers and five members of the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), totaling ten fatalities. Due to a sudden change in wind direction, the 24-member team became trapped in the heart of the flames. Fourteen of them were taken to various hospitals for treatment; ten others died at the scene.

Forest Fires Between 26–31 July 2025

Ankara – Eymir Lake Fire

A forest fire broke out on the morning of 26 July 2025 in a wooded area near Eymir Lake within the boundaries of Çankaya district in Ankara. Upon citizen reports, numerous fire and police units were deployed to the area. The fire started as a ground fire and quickly spread to the tree-covered region. Response efforts were conducted both from the air and the ground.


Aerial intervention involved six helicopters and four fire suppression aircraft, while 167 personnel participated in ground operations. Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş visited the fire site to assess the situation and inform the public. The fire was brought under control within a short time, and cooling operations commenced in the area. It was reported that the fire advanced toward the slopes facing the Konya road, with response efforts concentrated along this front.


No casualties were recorded during the fire, which was also attended by AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The General Directorate of Forestry announced on its social media account that the fire had been brought under control.

Karabük – Safranbolu and Ovacık Fires

A forest fire that began in Safranbolu district of Karabük on 23 July 2025 entered its sixth day as of 28 July 2025. The fire spread to the cemetery area of Çavuşlar Village and the Kışla Village and Merkez Mahallesi market area under Ovacık district. Firefighting operations continued both during the day by air and at night by land.



A total of 16 helicopters, three aircraft, 389 vehicles, and 1,386 personnel were deployed in the area. Due to fog and dense smoke, aerial vehicles were occasionally unable to operate. The rugged terrain and canyon-filled geography of the affected areas hindered access for vehicles and equipment.


A total of 18 villages and 50 neighborhoods were evacuated as a precaution. 1,839 people were relocated to safe areas. Some damage occurred to houses, barns, and storage buildings near the fire zones. A wounded cat was rescued during operations conducted by the ALFA Search and Rescue Association and received initial treatment from volunteer veterinarians.


Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that the fire’s intensity had been significantly reduced but warned that new flare-ups could occur due to high temperatures and wind. It was reported that the fires had not yet been fully contained and that response efforts continued depending on temperature and humidity conditions. It was also confirmed that some wild and domestic animals had been affected by the fires in Safranbolu.


On 30 July, it was announced that all forest fires in Karabük province since 23 July had been brought under control. A total of 21 helicopters, two aircraft, 575 vehicles, and 1,894 personnel were deployed to combat the fires in Çavuşlar and Kışla villages of Safranbolu.


In a statement by the Karabük Governorate, it was emphasized that extinguishing and cooling operations in all fire zones were carried out with great care, that the spread of fires toward populated areas had been prevented, and that certain evacuations had been implemented for safety reasons.

Karabük – Kahyalar Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 28 July in Kahyalar village, under Karabük center, affected the Kabaoğlu and Çakırlar neighborhoods and the Kaleköy center and Sarıkonak neighborhoods. Response efforts involved four helicopters, 174 vehicles, and 481 personnel. As a precaution, these four neighborhoods and one village were evacuated.


It was reported that the fire posed a risk due to its proximity to the ongoing fires in Safranbolu and Ovacık. By the morning of 29 July, the fire had been fully brought under control. Governor Mustafa Yavuz and local officials conducted inspections at the fire site, with operations coordinated by the General Directorate of Forestry.

Bursa – Orhaneli, Kestel, Gürsu and Harmancık Fires

Forest fires that began in Bursa on 26 July 2025 affected a wide area in the districts of Orhaneli, Harmancık, Kestel, and Gürsu. The fire first ignited at 16:06 in Yakuplar Neighborhood, under Orhaneli district, and spread toward Harmancık district due to wind. On the same day at 17:41, a second fire broke out in a wooded area near Ağlaşan Neighborhood between Kestel and Gürsu districts.



A total of five aircraft, 30 helicopters, 855 ground vehicles and 2,300 personnel have been deployed to combat the fires. Due to wind-driven expansion of the fires, the neighborhoods of Yakuplar in Orhaneli district and Gedikler in Büyükorhan district, as well as Dutluca, Ilıcaksu, Çamoğlu, Çatalsöğüt and Çakmak in Harmancık district, were evacuated as a precaution. Similarly, the neighborhoods of Karahıdır, İğdir, Ağlaşan and Avdancık in Kestel and Gürsu districts were also evacuated. A total of 3,515 people have been relocated to safe areas.


It was reported that during nighttime hours flames rose between Çakmak and Çamoğlu neighborhoods, and the fire advanced toward a road, but rapid intervention by emergency teams halted its progress. With favorable weather conditions in the early morning, aerial firefighting operations resumed. The fire perimeter has been surrounded using firebreaks and newly opened roads in an effort to contain the blaze.


During firefighting operations, three people lost their lives after a water tanker overturned. Additionally, a person wearing search and rescue gear was detained due to suspicious behavior; investigations revealed this individual had 105 criminal records and was wanted for nine separate offenses. Another suspect linked to the Harmancık fire, Ufuk A., was arrested following a court order.


Damage assessments found that in Kestel and Gürsu districts, one social facility, two residences and two storage units suffered severe damage. A resident in Karahıdır neighborhood of Gürsu sustained third-degree burns while participating in firefighting efforts.


Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated on 29 July 2025 that all 55 fires reported across Türkiye in the past 24 hours had been brought under control, with the exception of the fire in Harmancık, Bursa. He noted that the Harmancık fire had been complicated by dense fog and strong winds, hindering aerial operations, but that emergency teams had surrounded the fire perimeter and significantly reduced its intensity. Cooling operations are ongoing along all fire lines.


In a statement made by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı on 30 July 2025, it was announced that the forest fire between Harmancık and Orhaneli districts in Bursa had been brought under control. Cooling operations in the affected area continue. With this announcement, the fire, which began on 26 July, was officially declared under control on its fifth day.

Mersin – Silifke Fire

On 26 July 2025, three separate forest fires broke out in forested areas of the Çadırlı, Bahçederesi, Kocapınar and Kırtıl neighborhoods in Mersin’s Silifke district. Fueled by strong winds, the fires rapidly expanded to threaten residential areas.



Four aircraft, eight helicopters, 190 ground vehicles and 594 personnel were deployed to combat the fire. A 25-member firefighting team stationed at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in Gülnar district also participated in suppression efforts with one fire engine and three water tankers. Local residents supported operations by transporting water using tractors.


Evacuations were carried out in all four affected neighborhoods. Some homes, poultry coops and stables in Bahçederesi neighborhood were damaged, with 25 poultry animals killed. Of the 21 people transported to hospital, 19 have been discharged; treatment continues for two forestry workers. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.


Due to intensive efforts by response teams, the fire was brought under control by July 27, and cooling operations began in the area. Damage assessment initiatives have been launched by the Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and AFAD.

Antalya – Gazipaşa, Alanya, Serik and Aksu Fires

On July 26, 2025, four separate forest fires broke out in different districts of Antalya. Aerial and ground interventions were carried out against the fires in Gazipaşa, Alanya, Serik and Aksu districts.

Gazipaşa

The fire, which started in the Doğanca Neighborhood of Gazipaşa, spread under the influence of wind as far as the Gürçam and Çile neighborhoods. All houses in Gürçam Neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution. Two aircraft and eleven helicopters were deployed to combat the fire. Due to heavy smoke, aerial operations were restricted during the morning hours, while ground interventions continued throughout the night. The fire later approached the neighboring district of Anamur in Mersin, leading to the evacuation of 264 people from the Karaağa and Lale neighborhoods.

Alanya

The fire that began on July 25 in Söğüt Yaylası of Alanya was addressed from the ground throughout the night. Starting in the morning, three aircraft and three helicopters provided support. The fire was brought under control, with approximately 40 hectares of land damaged.

Serik

A fire broke out in the forested area along the border between the Akbaş and Karataş neighborhoods of Serik district. One fire suppression helicopter, aircraft, all-terrain vehicles and fire brigades participated in the intervention. Due to the fire’s proximity to residential areas, three homes were completely destroyed. Approximately 50 decares of land were damaged.

Aksu

Due to the fire affecting the Kurşunlu, Macun, Yurtpınar and Fatih neighborhoods of Aksu district, a total of 290 people and 30 head of livestock were evacuated. Flames approached the ancient city of Perge. Three residences were damaged in the fire. Police special operations teams and local residents provided support during the intervention. The fire has been brought under control, and cooling operations are ongoing.

Kahramanmaraş – Onikişubat Fire

A forest fire occurred on July 26, 2025, in the rural area of Çamlıbel Neighborhood, affiliated with the Onikişubat district of Kahramanmaraş. The fire started in the evening and, by the second day on July 27, spread toward stony and rocky terrain.



Intervention was carried out by six helicopters, 17 fire trucks, 38 all-terrain vehicles, seven initial response units, 10 water tanks and 15 construction machines, along with over 600 personnel under the coordination of the Kahramanmaraş Regional Directorate of Forestry. Support teams from neighboring provinces including Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Kayseri, Osmaniye, Gaziantep and Konya also joined the operations.


Three houses and one barn were completely destroyed in the fire. A total of 130 people were evacuated by AFAD and gendarmerie. Five of the six forestry personnel involved in the intervention were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation and received treatment.


Intervention efforts have been challenging due to the area’s rocky, rugged and difficult-to-access terrain. It has been reported that the fire’s intensity has decreased but it has not yet been fully brought under control; operations continued throughout the day with aerial support.

Uşak – Sivaslı Fire

On July 26, 2025, a fire broke out in a forested and oak-covered area near Ketenlik Village in the Sivaslı district of Uşak. The fire rapidly expanded, spreading toward the Horzumlar and Tekeli neighborhoods and Erice Village. Under the influence of strong winds, the fire covered a wide area by the second day.


Intervention was coordinated by the Denizli Regional Directorate of Forestry, involving five helicopters, 31 all-terrain vehicles, numerous construction machines and a total of 614 personnel. As a result of the fire affecting homes and barns in the villages, five homes and four barns were completely destroyed, and 769 people and 318 households were evacuated. Additionally, 25 animals were rescued during the fire, while 17 perished.


Due to intensive aerial and ground intervention, the fire has been largely brought under control. Residents evacuated from the affected area have begun returning to their homes. Damage assessment operations have been initiated by the Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Cooling operations by response teams are ongoing. Uşak Governor Naci Aktaş visited the fire zone, gathered information from response teams and met with local residents.

Uşak – Banaz Fire

The forest fire that broke out in the Banaz district of Uşak on July 28 was brought under control on the same day. Detailed intervention information has not been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that extinguishing operations were successfully completed. Cooling operations in the area are continuing.

İzmir – Bornova Fire

A fire broke out on July 27, 2025, in a forested area of Gökdere Neighborhood, affiliated with the Bornova district of İzmir. Under the influence of wind, the fire spread rapidly and reached the boundaries of the Buca district. Security measures in the area were heightened and several roads were closed to traffic due to the fire.



To combat the fire, the İzmir Regional Directorate of Forestry deployed four aircraft, seven helicopters, 25 all-terrain vehicles, seven water supply vehicles and four bulldozers. Local residents supported firefighting efforts by transporting water to the fire site using tractors. Security forces implemented safety measures in the area, while Mobile Units for Public Order (TOMA) also intervened by spraying water on the flames.


The İzmir-Aydın motorway in the direction of Gökdere was temporarily closed to traffic, with vehicles redirected toward Buca and Torbalı. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Preventive measures have been intensified to prevent flames from reaching residential areas, and efforts to bring the fire under control are ongoing.

Afyonkarahisar – Hocalar Fire

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on July 31, 2025, it was reported that 68 of the 69 forest fires that occurred across Türkiye in the past 24 hours had been brought under control, with only the fire in the Hocalar district of Afyonkarahisar still active. It was stated that the fire does not pose a threat and that efforts to bring it under control are continuing.

Ankara – Mamak Fire

On July 30, 2025, a fire broke out in a grassland area in Mutlu Neighborhood, 702/2. Street, in the Mamak district of Ankara. The fire quickly spread to nearby informal settlements. As a result, eight informal dwellings became unusable. Firefighting teams brought the fire under control after approximately one hour of operations. There were no casualties or injuries during the fire. Two puppy dogs rescued during the fire were taken in by local residents for care.

Other Regional Fires

Kocaeli – Karamürsel

The fire that broke out in Pazarköy Neighborhood, two kilometers from the center of Karamürsel district, reached Karapınar Neighborhood. Aerial and ground interventions were carried out, resulting in damage to approximately 10 hectares. The fire has been brought under control and cooling operations have begun in the area.

Sakarya – Hendek

A fire that broke out in the forested area between Beylice and Hacımbey neighborhoods of Hendek district spread as far as Yeşilyayla Village in Gümüşova district of Düzce due to wind. The fire, affecting an area of approximately 50 hectares, has been largely brought under control through aerial and ground intervention.

Elazığ – Sivrice

A ground fire that broke out in the rural area of Dikmen Village in Sivrice district occurred in mountainous and rocky terrain. Due to difficult access, intervention was conducted from the ground and the fire was brought under control. Precautionary measures have been taken for nearby village settlements.

Aydın – Efeler

The fire that broke out in the upper part of Yılmazköy Neighborhood in Efeler district spread to the forest. Intervention involved eight helicopters, six aircraft and 119 vehicles, and the fire has been brought under control. Twelve residents, two firefighters and one forestry officer were affected, with one resident suffering a skull fracture.

Muğla – Ortaca, Bodrum, Fethiye

The fire that broke out in Sarıgerme Neighborhood in Ortaca quickly spread to the forest but was brought under control before reaching tourist facilities in the region. Other fires that occurred in the Kavaklıdere, Milas and Bodrum districts of Muğla were also extinguished by response teams.

Adana – Aladağ

Aerial and ground interventions were carried out against fires in forested areas of Kökez and Kıcak neighborhoods in Aladağ district. The fires were brought under control within a short time.

Bingöl – Genç

The fire that broke out in the rural area of Güzeldere Village, affiliated with Genç district, spread to a forested area. The fire was extinguished through aerial and ground intervention, and cooling operations have begun.

Malatya – Doğanşehir

Residents supported firefighting efforts in the fire that broke out in Güzelköy Neighborhood of Doğanşehir district by transporting water using tractors. The fire was brought under control within a short time.

Osmaniye – Düziçi

The forest fire that broke out in Alıç Yaylası of Farsak Village in Düziçi district was brought under control through aerial and ground intervention.

Diyarbakır – Lice

The forest fire that broke out in Duru Neighborhood of Lice district reignited due to wind, affecting an area of approximately 35 hectares. Intervention was carried out by a gendarmerie helicopter from the air and by 40 personnel and nine vehicles from the ground. The fire has been extinguished and cooling operations are continuing in the area.

Denizli – Tavas Fire

A forest fire broke out on July 30, 2025, near Akyar Neighborhood in the Tavas district of Denizli. Ground intervention involved six all-terrain vehicles, five initial response units, two water tankers and 60 personnel. After approximately five hours of operations, the fire was completely extinguished, with damage to approximately half a hectare of land.

Forest Fires Between 1–15 August 2025

Balıkesir – Bigadiç Fire

A fire broke out on 4 August 2025 in the area between the neighborhoods of Güvemçetmi and Değirmenli in the Bigadiç district of Balıkesir. Response efforts included eight aircraft, five helicopters, 23 all-terrain vehicles, nine construction machines, five fire trucks, four water supply vehicles and 171 personnel conducting operations from both air and ground. The spread of flames into forested areas was prevented and the fire was brought under control the same day. Damage assessment operations are ongoing.

Şırnak – Balveren Fire

A brush and forest fire erupted on the morning of 3 August 2025 at the location of the National Gendarmerie Station in the Balveren village of Şırnak. Fueled by wind, the fire spread over a wide area. Response forces included 30 personnel, two all-terrain vehicles, two construction machines, five fire trucks, a water tanker, an initial response vehicle and a gendarmerie helicopter. The fire was brought under control through coordinated air and ground operations and cooling operations continue in the region.

Tekirdağ – Şarköy and Süleymanpaşa Fires

On the morning of 1 August 2025, a fire broke out in a hilly area in the Uçmakdere neighborhood of Şarköy district in Tekirdağ. Firefighting teams extinguished the initial blaze, but strong winds caused it to reignite and spread into forested land. Response efforts involved 15 all-terrain vehicles, 15 fire trucks, three helicopters, two aircraft and numerous personnel. The Tekirdağ Gendarmerie Command detained a suspect named M.Y. on suspicion of causing the fire. The fire was brought under control and cooling operations were initiated in the area.

On the same day, a fire ignited during stubble burning in the Ortaca neighborhood of Süleymanpaşa district in Tekirdağ and spread into forested land. Rapid intervention resulted in damage to four hectares of forest and 80 decares of agricultural stubble. The fire was fully extinguished and cooling operations were carried out in the area.

Bursa – Yenişehir Fire

A forest fire broke out on 1 August 2025 in the rural area of Kavaklı neighborhood in the Yenişehir district of Bursa. Response efforts included two aircraft, six helicopters, 10 all-terrain vehicles, four water tankers and 92 personnel. The fire was brought under control within a short time.

Bartın – Kayadibiçavuş Fire

On 5 August 2025, four separate forest fires broke out at the Asarlık location in Kayadibiçavuş village, part of the central district of Bartın. Numerous response teams were dispatched from Bartın and neighboring provinces. A total of 78 vehicles including 36 pickup trucks, two helicopters, 12 all-terrain vehicles, 13 construction machines and 15 water tankers, along with 305 personnel, participated in the operation. Local villagers supported firefighting efforts using their own water tankers and tractors. The fire was brought under control through coordinated air and ground operations.

Edirne – Keşan Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 6 August 2025 at the Sivritepe location in the Keşan district of Edirne spread due to wind. Response teams from the Forest Management Directorate, AFAD, Edirne Municipality, DSİ, Provincial Special Administration and Keşan Fire Department were deployed along with reinforcements from neighboring provinces. Five aircraft and three helicopters provided aerial support. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished, and cooling operations have begun.

Karabük – Yeşilköy Fire

A fire broke out on 5 August 2025 in the forested area within the boundaries of Yeşilköy village in the central district of Karabük. Response efforts involved three helicopters, 58 vehicles and 164 personnel. The fire was brought under control, resulting in damage to three hectares of land. One forest worker affected by smoke was hospitalized.

After the Yeşilköy fire was brought under control, a new fire erupted on 7 August 2025 at the Arıcak village location in the central district. Response efforts included one aircraft, five helicopters, 121 vehicles and 511 personnel. As a precaution, Yeşilköy village was evacuated. Operations continue to bring the fire under control.

Çanakkale – Sarıcaeli and Bayramiç Fires

On 8 August 2025, a fire started in agricultural land in the rural area of Sarıcaeli village, part of the central district of Çanakkale, and spread into forested land due to wind. On the same day, another fire broke out in the rural area of Yiğitler village in the Bayramiç district. Aerial and ground interventions were conducted. To prevent interference with firefighting aircraft operations over the Çanakkale Strait, maritime traffic was restricted to one-way flow from north to south.

The fire that began in agricultural land in Bayramiç district and spread into forested areas was fully brought under control by 11 August 2025 after three days of intervention. Teams continue cooling operations in the region.


A fire that began on 9 August 2025 on vacant land in Kalabaklı village, part of Çanakkale city center, was brought under control through aerial and ground intervention. Local residents supported operations using tractors and water tankers, while police units provided assistance with TOMA vehicles. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sinop – Durağan (Köklen Village) Fire

A forest fire that began on 9 August 2025 near Köklen village in the Durağan district of Sinop was brought under control on 11 August 2025 after three days of operations. The fire affected 22 hectares. As a precaution, 65 villagers who had been evacuated returned to their homes. Six helicopters operated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the General Command of Gendarmerie provided aerial support. Ground operations involved the Regional Forest Directorate, AFAD, municipalities, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Red Crescent and volunteers. Due to difficult access in steep and rocky terrain, operations were heavily focused on aerial intervention.

Mersin – Anamur Fire

A fire broke out on 10 August 2025 in the forested area of the Aşağı Kükür neighborhood in the Anamur district of Mersin. The fire was brought under control through intervention involving three helicopters, nine all-terrain vehicles and five water tankers. Cooling operations continue in the region.

Denizli – Karaçay Fire

A forest fire broke out at 13:45 on 10 August 2025 in the Karadağ location of Karaçay neighborhood in Denizli. Response efforts included three helicopters, 10 all-terrain vehicles, one construction machine, four initial response vehicles and 78 personnel. After approximately four hours of operations, the fire was brought under control with damage to 1.5 hectares of land.

Diyarbakır – Kazandağı (Kalemlik Mezrası) Fire

A fire broke out in the evening of 9 August 2025 in the forested area of the Kalemlik mezrası in Kazandağı neighborhood of Diyarbakır. It was extinguished through the efforts of two all-terrain vehicles, two initial response vehicles and 30 personnel. Nine hectares of land were affected.

Aksaray – Hasan Dağı Fire

A forest fire that began on 10 August 2025 in the Hasan Dağı region of Aksaray was brought under control during the night. It was determined that 10 hectares were affected, of which seven hectares were non-forest land and three hectares were forested. Over 100 personnel and numerous vehicles participated in the intervention.

Isparta – Kovada Lake Location Fire

A fire that broke out on 10 August 2025 in the forested area near Kovada Lake in Isparta was brought under control before it could spread, thanks to rapid response efforts.

Mersin – Bozyazı (Kozaağacı Yaylası) Fire

A fire broke out on 11 August 2025 in the forested area of the Kabaağaç location in the Kozaağacı Yaylası of Bozyazı district in Mersin. Response teams from the Bozyazı, Gülnar and Anamur Forest Management Directorates, the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, three helicopters, 13 all-terrain vehicles, three water tankers and two initial response vehicles intervened. The fire was brought under control and cooling operations continue in the region.

Aydın – Dağyeni Neighborhood Fire

Firefighting teams from the Forest Management Directorate are conducting aerial and ground operations to bring under control a fire that broke out on 11 August 2025 in the forested area of Dağyeni neighborhood in Aydın. Operations to control the fire are ongoing.

Bolu – Göncek Village Fire

A fire that began on 11 August 2025 on land in the Camiyanı neighborhood of Göncek village in Bolu and spread into the forest is being addressed by two helicopters, forest and fire teams, and more than 60 personnel. Operations are reported to be continuous.

Çanakkale – Kepez (Dardanos) Fire

A forest fire that broke out on 11 August 2025 at the Dardanos location in the Kepez township of Çanakkale city center spread rapidly due to wind. As a precaution, residents of the Güzelyalı region, the ÇOMÜ Dardanos Campus, the Gendarmerie Güzelyalı Camp and the Çamlıbel housing complex were evacuated. Response efforts involve seven aircraft, six helicopters, 45 all-terrain vehicles, 20 fire trucks, seven dozers and 455 personnel. Fourteen people affected by smoke are receiving medical treatment in hospitals. Maritime traffic from south to north through the Çanakkale Strait was temporarily halted. The Çanakkale-Ezine road was closed between kilometers 10 and 31. The Çanakkale Airport runway was closed to all flights except those of state aircraft and emergency operations until 19:30.

Aydın – Germencik Fire

A fire occurred on 11 August 2025 in the forested area of Dağyeni neighborhood in the Germencik district of Aydın. Response efforts included three aircraft, seven helicopters, 12 all-terrain vehicles and four water tankers. The fire has been brought under control with damage to 40 decares of land.

Manisa – Soma Fire

A forest fire began on 11 August 2025 near Turgutalp neighborhood in the Soma district of Manisa. Response efforts involve two aircraft, 10 helicopters, 30 all-terrain vehicles, 10 water supply vehicles and four dozers. Ground interventions continued throughout the night and aerial operations resumed in the morning. Two individuals have been detained on suspicion of causing the fire. It is alleged that the suspects were cutting iron with a spiral machine near the forest when the fire broke out.


The fire that broke out on August 11 near Turgutalp Neighborhood in the Soma district of Manisa and the fire in Badınca Neighborhood in the Alaşehir district have been fully brought under control. Two of the three suspects accused of causing the Soma fire and alleged to have cut iron using a spiral machine have been arrested.

Kahramanmaraş – Göksun Fire

A fire broke out on August 11, 2025, in a forested area near Kırsal Kavşut Neighborhood in the Göksun district of Kahramanmaraş. Response efforts have involved four helicopters eight all-terrain vehicles three construction machines five water tankers and 110 ground personnel. Operations to bring the fire under control are ongoing.

İzmir Buca Forest Fire

On August 12 2025 a fire that started in a minibus traveling on the highway in İzmir’s Buca district spread to the adjacent forested area. In response to the alert four aircraft six helicopters 17 all-terrain vehicles five water supply vehicles two bulldozers and numerous personnel were deployed to the area. The fire has been fully brought under control. Three individuals including the vehicle driver the vehicle owner and the exhaust technician who repaired the vehicle have been taken into custody.


Uşak Banaz Forest Fire

A forest fire broke out on August 12 in Uşak’s Banaz district between the villages of Yenice and Paşacık. Response efforts involved one aircraft seven helicopters 17 all-terrain vehicles 12 initial response vehicles and three construction machines. Aerial operations were halted as darkness fell and ground operations continued. The fire has been brought under control.


Osmaniye Sumbas Fire

A fire that started in a field on August 12 in the Akdam village area of Osmaniye’s Sumbas district spread to olive groves and forests due to wind. The fire was brought under control on the same day following the intervention of three helicopters one aircraft 30 all-terrain vehicles and fire department units with 250 personnel. Approximately 15 hectares of land were damaged.

İzmir Karaburun Fire

A forest fire that broke out on August 12 in Küçükbahçe Neighborhood in İzmir’s Karaburun district was addressed by one aircraft two helicopters and ground teams. The fire has been brought under control.


Antalya Kepez Fire

A forest fire that began on August 12 near Kızıllı Neighborhood in Antalya’s Kepez district was brought under control through combined aerial and ground intervention.

Manisa – Şehzadeler and Soma District Fires

On August 13 2025 forest fires broke out in the Şehzadeler and Soma districts of Manisa. Aerial and ground interventions were carried out by the General Directorate of Forestry fire departments and AFAD personnel. Helicopters all-terrain vehicles and construction machines were used in the operations.


Two suspects taken into custody during the investigation into the cause of the fires were arrested by court order. Judicial authorities are continuing their investigations into the possibility that both fires were deliberately set. Cooling operations have been initiated in both areas to bring the fires under control. Due to flames approaching residential areas some zones in Şehzadeler were evacuated as a precaution while damage occurred to agricultural land and forested areas in Soma.

Mersin – Silifke and Anamur District Forest Fires

A fire broke out on August 13 2025 in the vicinity of the Balandız and Kırtıl neighborhoods in Mersin’s Silifke district. The fire led to the evacuation of 1851 people from 984 households across six neighborhoods and seven locations. Operations continued throughout the night and aerial firefighting helicopters resumed operations at first light. The fire has been brought under control through combined aerial and ground efforts.


The Silifke Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the fire. The owner of the contracting firm and several workers were taken into custody on suspicion of causing the fire during welding operations while installing a water pipeline. Four suspects have been arrested and two released under judicial supervision.


A forest fire broke out on August 15 2025 in the Korucuk neighborhood of Mersin’s Anamur district. Emergency response continued throughout the night and aerial operations resumed at first light. According to officials from the General Directorate of Forestry the fire has been brought under control through combined aerial and ground intervention.

Hatay – Hassa Yayladağı and Antakya District Forest Fires

A forest fire occurred on August 13 2025 in Hatay’s Hassa district. The fire which began on August 13 between the neighborhoods of Bademli and Yukarıbucak resulted in the evacuation of 1115 people from the two neighborhoods. A total of 179 vehicles and approximately 341 personnel participated in the response. 144 head of livestock were evacuated from Katranlık Neighborhood.



The fire that broke out in Dağdüzü Neighborhood in Yayladağı district was brought under control after overnight intervention and cooling operations continue. A fire that jumped from Syria’s Keseb district across the Yayladağı border has also been brought under control. The fire in Antakya’s Narlıca Neighborhood was quickly extinguished. On August 15 Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the forest fires in Hassa Antakya and Yayladağı districts of Hatay had been fully brought under control.

Osmaniye – Düziçi Fire

A fire that broke out on August 14 near Akçakoyunlu village in Osmaniye’s Düziçi district has been brought under control through combined aerial and ground intervention. Cooling operations are ongoing.

Adana – Aladağ Fire

A fire that broke out on August 14 at the Sehil location in Gökçeköy Neighborhood in Adana’s Aladağ district has been brought under control. Cooling operations continue in the area.

Çanakkale – Ayvacık (Çaltıköy) Fire

A forest fire broke out on August 14 2025 in Çaltıköy in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. Response efforts involved five aircraft four helicopters and nine all-terrain vehicles on the ground. It was reported that the fire did not threaten residential areas and its spread was halted through intervention operations.

Manisa – Demirci (Çataloluk) Fire

A forest fire that broke out on August 14 2025 at the Seyit Ahmet location in Çataloluk Neighborhood in Manisa’s Demirci district was brought under control after approximately four hours of intervention. Approximately five hectares of pine forest were damaged.

Çanakkale–Kepez Village Forest Fire

A forest fire broke out on 12 August 2025 in the Dardanos area of Kepez village, which is under the jurisdiction of Çanakkale’s central district, due to a cause yet to be determined. Upon receiving the alert, fire services, forestry vehicles, heavy machinery, aerial units, and a large number of personnel were deployed to the area.



Intensive firefighting efforts were conducted both from the air and the ground. According to Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman, the operation involved 10 aircraft, 9 helicopters, 75 forestry vehicles, 35 fire trucks, 10 bulldozers, 92 other vehicles, and 760 personnel. As visibility improved, the number of aerial units was increased, and firefighting activities continued throughout the day from both air and ground.


As the fire spread, residential areas in Güzelyalı, Halileli village, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Dardanos Campus, Güzelyalı Gendarmerie Camp, and Çamlıbel Housing Complex were evacuated as a precaution. A total of 2,090 people were safely transported to secure locations by sea and land. The Coast Guard Command rescued 187 people by sea and 161 by land vehicles. The General Directorate of Coastal Safety under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure also transported 84 people stranded in the area to safety using maritime vessels.



Seventy-seven people affected by smoke were treated at nearby hospitals. It was reported that none of the injured had life-threatening conditions. Several homes and vehicles were completely destroyed during the fire. A business located along the Çanakkale–İzmir highway was engulfed in flames. Police units conducted inspections at burning summer residences in Güzelyalı.


The Coast Guard Command rescued a total of 348 people trapped during the fire. Of these, 187 were evacuated by sea and 161 by land vehicles. Forestry Directorate teams rescued two puppy dogs and one turtle from within the fire zone near Güzelyalı Karanlık Port and transported them to safety.



Citizens also supported firefighting efforts. Local residents assisted with water tankers, and volunteer motorcyclists delivered water, masks, ayran, and eye drops to teams on the ground. The Çanakkale Provincial Security Directorate deployed TOMA vehicles to the operation, and command units were actively stationed at the scene. The Ministry of National Education Search and Rescue Unit (AKUB) provided water to a chicken trapped in the garden of a house affected by the fire.


The International Social Responsibility Association (USSOD) team became trapped for approximately one and a half hours when flames blocked their escape route during evacuation operations in Güzelyalı village. The team was eventually rescued by personnel from the Turkish Armed Forces and TOMA vehicles.



Due to the fire, maritime traffic in the Çanakkale Strait was temporarily halted in both directions and later reopened. The Çanakkale Airport runway was closed to flights until 19:30 and then reopened to civilian air traffic. The Çanakkale–Ezine highway between the 10th and 31st kilometers was temporarily closed to traffic.


As of 12 August, evacuees in areas where the risk had subsided began returning to their homes, cooling operations were initiated in some areas, while active firefighting continued in other regions. On 13 August, the spread of the fire was halted and brought under control.

Fires in Çanakkale

Fire on the Gelibolu-Eceabat Line

A fire broke out on 16 August 2025 at 16:28 in the forested area between the villages of Tayfur and Cumalı in Gelibolu district of Çanakkale. Due to strong winds the flames rapidly expanded and spread to forested areas in Eceabat district. Forest Regional Directorate teams responded to the fire both from the air and the ground. The response involved 12 aircraft 18 helicopters 343 ground vehicles and 1300 personnel. Local farmers also supported operations by transporting water in tankers.



As the fire spread the villages of Karainebeyli and Ilgardere in Gelibolu and Yolağzı Kumköy Büyükanafartalar Küçükanafartalar and Beşyol in Eceabat were evacuated as a precaution. Additionally the Gelibolu Historical Area Directorate of the Çanakkale Battles temporarily closed access to the northern line of the historical area including the sites of the Wrecked Ship Mimoza 57th Regiment and Conkbayırı until a second announcement to ensure visitor safety and prevent disruption to firefighting operations. Bigalı Castle Bigalı Atatürk House and the Çanakkale Epic Promotion Center were also temporarily closed.


The local wildlife in the affected area was also negatively impacted. Images were captured of black bears attempting to escape the flames in the forested region between Kumköy and Ilgardere.


Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman stated that ground operations were used to contain the fire overnight and that aerial assets resumed operations at first light. The first day saw wind speeds reaching 60 kilometers per hour but the following day higher humidity and reduced wind strength improved firefighting conditions.


By 18 August 2025 the fire was fully under control. The Gelibolu Historical Area Directorate announced the reopening of the northern line to visitors and permitted residents of previously evacuated villages to return to their homes.

Fire Near Üzümlü Village Bayramiç

A forest fire broke out on 15 August 2025 at 00:29 in the Üzümlü village area of Bayramiç district Çanakkale. Ground response teams from the Çanakkale Forest Regional Directorate and the district fire department deployed 24 all-terrain vehicles 6 bulldozers 3 water tankers 1 fire truck 3 other vehicles and a total of 172 personnel. Strong winds intensified the fire’s spread and crews worked intensively to prevent it from reaching nearby villages. The fire’s advance toward Güzeltepe village was successfully halted.



The Çanakkale Governorate announced that the fire had been largely contained and that cooling operations were continuing. By 16 August it was confirmed that the fire was under control and cooling efforts were ongoing.


On 22 August 2025 a new fire ignited in the rural area of Ilgardere village Gelibolu district Çanakkale and spread into nearby forested land. Nine aircraft six helicopters 143 ground vehicles and 391 personnel responded to the fire. Police TOMA vehicles and local residents supported operations with water tankers. A total of 126 residents from Pazarlı and Ilgardere villages were evacuated as a precaution. On 23 August it was announced that the fire was largely under control and the following day it was fully contained.


Fires in the Marmara Region

Kocaeli – Karamürsel Fire

A fire broke out on 15 August 2025 in a forested area in the Suludere neighborhood of Karamürsel district Kocaeli. As the flames rapidly spread due to strong winds firefighting helicopters along with teams from the fire department and Forest Management Directorate were dispatched to the area. As a precautionary measure evacuation operations began in Akçat neighborhood during the initial hours of the fire.


Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tahir Büyükakın announced that support teams arrived from neighboring provinces to combat the fire, and that firefighting operations were carried out using six aircraft and ten helicopters provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The number of vehicles in the region reached 163, and the number of personnel on duty reached 376.



The dense smoke generated during the fire reached the city center of Bursa and the district of Orhangazi, with the smell of ash becoming perceptible. Efforts continued in the neighborhoods of Safiye, Suludere, and Akçat to prevent the fire from spreading to villages. As a result of operations conducted between 16 and 17 August 2025, the fire’s intensity was reduced, and by 18 August it was largely brought under control. A total of 963 personnel, 93 transfer vehicles, 41 fire trucks, 76 water tankers, 78 all-terrain vehicles, 23 construction machines, 10 helicopters, and 6 aircraft participated in the operations.

Balıkesir – Erdek and Edremit Fires

On 15 August 2025, a fire that began in agricultural land in the Harmanlı neighborhood of Paşalimanı Island, under the jurisdiction of Erdek district in Balıkesir, spread to forested areas due to wind. Upon reports from local residents, numerous fire and forestry teams were dispatched to the island, with interventions conducted from land.


On the same date, a fire broke out at the entrance to the Hasan Boğuldu Recreation Area within Kazdağı National Park in Edremit district. Two helicopters, eight all-terrain vehicles, and 50 personnel were deployed to the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control, resulting in damage to 500 square meters of forested land and approximately 4,000 square meters of olive groves. Cooling operations have begun in the area.



Additionally, a fire that broke out in grassland and scrubland in the Gaziosmanpaşa neighborhood of Balıkesir city center was brought under control after approximately two hours of intervention.

Bursa – İznik Fire

On 15 August 2025, a fire broke out in scrubland in the Bayındır neighborhood of İznik district in Bursa. Teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and fire services were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control through combined aerial and ground interventions.

Bartın and Zonguldak Fires

On 15 August 2025, multiple fires broke out in numerous locations in Bartın city center, as well as in the districts of Amasra and Kurucaşile. Fires occurred in garden, agricultural, and forested areas in the neighborhoods of Ağdacı, Aladağ, Gölbucağı, and Gecen under Bartın’s jurisdiction; in the villages of Ulugeçit Ambarcı, Karasu, Yeşilkaya, and Kurtköy; in the villages of Ahatlar and Cumayanı under Amasra district; and in the village of Dizlermezeci under Kurucaşile district.

Interventions involved the Zonguldak Regional Directorate of Forestry, the Bartın Forestry Management Directorate, municipal fire departments, AFAD, gendarmerie, police, Coast Guard, Red Crescent, and various civil society organizations.


A total of 54 vehicles and 189 personnel responded to the fires, including one helicopter, 23 all-terrain and construction vehicles, five water tankers, one TOMA vehicle, eight pickup trucks, and 16 support vehicles. The fires were brought under control, and cooling operations continued at the Ahtalar location.

Kırklareli – Lüleburgaz Fire

On 15 August 2025, a fire that began in stubble fields in Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli spread to wooded areas due to wind. As a result of the fire, the European Motorway and D-100 highway were closed in both directions for approximately two hours. Dense smoke significantly reduced visibility, triggering a chain-reaction traffic accident. Six people were injured in the accident and transported to Lüleburgaz State Hospital.

Intense efforts were made to prevent the fire from reaching a fuel station in the Bahçivan area, and residents in Hürriyet neighborhood evacuated their animals to safe locations. A dog affected by smoke was rescued by emergency teams. The fire was extinguished after approximately five hours of operations.

Kastamonu – Daday Fire

On 16 August 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area in the Gökören village location of Daday district in Kastamonu. Forestry Directorate all-terrain vehicles and one helicopter were dispatched to the region. The fire was extinguished following intervention efforts, and cooling operations were completed.


Bursa – Nilüfer Fire

On 19 August 2025, a forest fire broke out in the Başköy neighborhood of Nilüfer district in Bursa. It was reported that the fire started outside the forested area before spreading into the forest. Upon notification, teams from the Bursa Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the area.


Interventions were conducted both from air and land. A total of 92 personnel, two aircraft, four helicopters, 11 all-terrain vehicles, and 12 utility and service vehicles participated in the operations. The fire was brought under control following the teams’ efforts, and cooling operations began in the area.

Kocaeli – İzmit Fire

On 24 August 2025, a fire broke out in wooded and scrubland areas in the Yeni Mahalle location of İzmit district in Kocaeli. Fire and forestry teams quickly arrived at the scene and conducted aerial and ground interventions. One house’s roof sustained damage in the fire. In a statement issued by the Kocaeli Governorate, it was confirmed that the fire had been fully extinguished, cooling operations were ongoing, and residents were urged to remain vigilant and avoid lighting fires or discarding cigarette butts.

İstanbul – Sarıyer Fire

On 24 August 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area in the Zekeriyaköy neighborhood of Sarıyer district in Istanbul. Police, fire services, and General Directorate of Forestry teams intervened from land, while a helicopter provided aerial support. The fire was quickly brought under control following the teams’ efforts.

Balıkesir – Marmara Island Fire

On 25 August 2025, a fire broke out in scrubland on the upper part of the New Neighborhood on Marmara Island. Flames quickly spread to adjacent forested areas. Balıkesir Regional Directorate of Forestry, fire, and municipal teams responded to the fire, and water tankers and fire vehicles were dispatched by sea from Avşa Island and Erdek. The fire was brought under control, and cooling operations are continuing.

Balıkesir – Susurluk Fire

On 25 August 2025, a forest fire broke out in the rural area of Günaydın neighborhood under Susurluk district in Balıkesir. The fire rapidly expanded and spread into forested areas. Following the incident, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region. Aerial intervention included four aircraft and two helicopters; ground intervention involved 12 all-terrain vehicles, six fire trucks, eight water tankers, four initial response vehicles, two dozers, two excavators, six service vehicles, one ambulance, and a total of 150 personnel. The fire was brought under control following intensive efforts by the teams.


Bursa – Yenişehir, Marmaracık Fire

On 28 August 2025, a forest fire broke out in the Marmaracık neighborhood of Yenişehir district in Bursa. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Upon notification, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry, AFAD, fire services, and support units were dispatched to the area.


Five helicopters and four fire suppression aircraft responded from the air, while 718 personnel and 151 vehicles intervened from the ground. Thanks to the intense efforts of the teams, the fire was brought under control, followed by cooling operations. The Bursa Provincial Directorate announced that the fire had been extinguished and that preventive measures were continuing to guard against potential re-ignition in the area.


Amasya – Taşova/Erbaa Border Fire

A forest fire broke out on 28 August 2025 in the Koçalan meadow area of Kızılkışlacık village, Amasya. Teams from the Amasya, Taşova and Erbaa Forest Management Directorates, along with fire units from the municipalities of Amasya and Taşova, responded to the fire. Additionally, a helicopter operated by the General Directorate of Forestry provided support in suppression efforts. It was reported that efforts to extinguish the fire were ongoing.

Forest Fires in the Mediterranean Region

Adana – İmamoğlu and Aladağ Fires

A fire broke out on 15 August 2025 at 15:57 in Üçtepe Neighborhood, İmamoğlu District, Adana. In response, 2 aircraft, 6 helicopters, 23 fire vehicles, 11 water supply vehicles, machinery, and 182 personnel from the Regional Forest Directorate intervened. The Gendarmerie initiated an investigation into the possibility that the fire was deliberately set. Emergency medical teams from 112 responded to three workers affected by smoke. After overnight operations, the fire was brought under control, and cooling operations began in the area.


A fire broke out on 16 August 2025 at the Sehil location in Gökçeköy Neighborhood, Aladağ District, Adana. Teams from the Adana Regional Forest Directorate, a fire suppression helicopter, and fire vehicles were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control through the intervention of the teams.

Adana – Sarıçam Fire

On 21 August 2025, a fire originating from agricultural burning began in Turunçlu Neighborhood, Sarıçam District, Adana, and quickly spread to forested areas due to wind conditions. Upon notification, 2 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 40 vehicles, and 125 personnel from the Regional Forest Directorate were deployed. The fire was brought under control through coordinated aerial and ground interventions.

Hatay – Hassa and Yayladağı Fires

A fire broke out on 13 August 2025 in the forested area between the Bademli and Yukarıbucak neighborhoods of Hassa District, Hatay. As a result of the fire, 144 head of livestock were evacuated from Katranlık Neighborhood, and 1,115 residents were relocated from Yukarıbucak and Bademli neighborhoods. Thanks to the intense efforts of the teams, the fire was brought under control.


A fire broke out on 14 August 2025 in Dağdüzü Neighborhood, Yayladağı District, Hatay. Personnel from the Regional Forest Directorate and the Metropolitan Municipality fire units continued their interventions throughout the night, with helicopters joining operations at first light. The fire was brought under control through coordinated aerial and ground efforts. The provincial directorate also announced that a fire that had jumped from Keseb District in Syria across the border into Türkiye had also been brought under control.

Muğla – Fethiye Fire

A fire broke out on 15 August 2025 at the Katrancı Koyu location in Fethiye District, Muğla. Teams from the Muğla Regional Forest Directorate were deployed to the area. Through aerial and ground interventions, the flames were brought under control, and cooling operations began in the region.


Adana – Feke Fire

A forest fire broke out on 26 August 2025 in Feke District, Adana. After smoke was observed rising from forested areas in Güzpınarı Neighborhood, the situation was reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Teams from the Regional Forest Directorate were dispatched to the area. Intervention involved 3 fire suppression helicopters, 8 fire vehicles, 3 water supply vehicles, various machinery, and a total of 55 personnel. The fire was brought under control through coordinated aerial and ground operations.

Hatay – Antakya, Habib-i Neccar Mountain Fire

A forest fire broke out on 28 August 2025 on the slopes of Habib-i Neccar Mountain in Antakya District, Hatay. The cause of the fire could not be determined. Upon notification, teams from the Regional Forest Directorate and the Metropolitan Municipality fire units were dispatched to the area. Suppression efforts involved fire suppression helicopters and fire vehicles.


Due to wind conditions, the fire showed a tendency to grow. Aerial and ground operations continued throughout the day, and coordinated team efforts prevented the fire from spreading to nearby settlements.

Hatay – Defne, Çökek Plateau Fire

A forest fire occurred on 31 August 2025 on the Çökek Plateau in Defne District, Hatay. The fire, which started due to an as-yet-undetermined cause, spread rapidly. Teams from the Regional Forest Directorate and the Metropolitan Municipality fire units intervened.


Thanks to the rapid response of the teams, the fire was quickly extinguished. Cooling operations were subsequently carried out in the area. The spread of the fire to surrounding areas was prevented, and no casualties were reported.


Forest Fires in the Southeastern Anatolia Region

Diyarbakır – Lice, Örtülü Neighborhood Fire

A forest fire broke out on 28 August 2025 in the rural Örtülü Neighborhood of Lice District, Diyarbakır. The cause of the fire, which occurred in an area densely populated with oak trees, could not be determined. Teams from the Diyarbakır Forest Management Directorate, fire units, 112 Emergency Medical Services, and the Gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene.


In addition to ground teams, a helicopter operated by the Gendarmerie provided aerial intervention. As a result of the operations, the fire was brought under control and extinguished. Cooling operations in the area have been completed. The fire caused damage to 5 hectares of agricultural land and 4 hectares of forested area.


Adıyaman – Besni Fire

A fire broke out on 15 August 2025 in the rural area of Atmalı Village, Besni District, Adıyaman. Initial investigations indicated that the fire started in a grassland area before spreading to a pine forest. Upon notification, 3 helicopters, fire units from the Gölbaşı and Besni districts, and forestry department teams were dispatched to the area.


After approximately four hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control. Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol announced that approximately 200 hectares of land were affected by the fire. Cooling operations were carried out in the region.

Diyarbakır – Lice Fire

A forest fire broke out on 28 August 2025 in the rural area of Örtülü Village,隶属于 Diyarbakır’s Lice district. The cause of the fire, which started in an area densely populated with oak trees, could not be determined. Upon receiving the alert, the Diyarbakır Forest Management Directorate, fire departments, 112 Emergency Health services, and gendarmerie units were dispatched to the area. Intervention operations were conducted from the ground, with a gendarmerie helicopter providing aerial support. Thanks to the intense efforts of the teams, the fire was extinguished. It was determined that 5 hectares of agricultural land and 4 hectares of forested land were damaged after cooling operations were completed.

Central Anatolia Region Fires

Afyonkarahisar – Bolvadin Fire

An undergrowth fire occurred on 15 August 2025 in the Yapraklı locality of Kemerkaya Village,隶属于 Afyonkarahisar’s Bolvadin district. The cause of the fire could not be determined. Upon receiving the alert, six all-terrain vehicles, two water supply vehicles, a bulldozer, a trailer, and a helicopter were dispatched to the area.


The fire, which broke out in rugged terrain covered with low shrubs, was brought under control through coordinated ground and aerial interventions. Initial assessments indicated that approximately 150 hectares of grassland and degraded forest area were damaged.


Karaman – Ermenek and Sarıveliler Fires

On 15 August 2025, fires broke out in forested areas near Ardıçkaya Village in Ermenek district of Karaman and in the vicinity of Daran Village in Sarıveliler district. Upon the outbreak of the fires, teams from the Ermenek Forest Management Directorate and fire units from the municipalities of Ermenek, Sarıveliler, and Başyayla were dispatched.


Intensive ground and aerial interventions were carried out against the fires. Three helicopters provided aerial support, while on the ground, 21 all-terrain vehicles, six water supply vehicles, 12 initial response units, 10 technical personnel, and 127 forest fire fighters were deployed. Additionally, municipal vehicles, water tankers, and civilian vehicles from the gendarmerie, police, Provincial Special Administration, and municipalities participated in the operations. The provincial administration reported that the intensity of the fire had been reduced.

Ankara – Eymir Lake Fire

On Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at around 22:45, a fire broke out in the grassland area surrounding Eymir Lake in Karataş Neighborhood, Ankara. Upon citizen reports, numerous police and fire units were dispatched to the area. The fire was brought under control at 23:27 following intervention by emergency teams. No human casualties occurred, as the fire was prevented from spreading to wooded areas.


The Ankara Provincial Administration stated that the fire was assessed to have been caused by the use of fireworks. An investigation into the incident identified D.P. as the suspect responsible for igniting the fire. Units from the General Directorate of Security apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter, and a court ordered his detention on 23 August 2025.

Black Sea Region Fires

Sinop – Gerze Fire

A forest fire broke out on 16 August 2025 in the Türkmenlioğlu locality of Belören Village,隶属于 Sinop’s Gerze district. The cause of the fire could not be determined. Teams from the Regional Forest Directorate, Gerze Municipality fire units, and a large number of gendarmerie personnel were directed to the scene.



Thanks to the intervention of emergency teams, the fire was quickly brought under control and fully extinguished. Cooling operations were completed in the area, and approximately 1,400 square meters of land were damaged.

Sivas – Hafik Bahçecik Village Fire

A fire broke out in grassland areas in Bahçecik Village, Hafik district of Sivas on 15 August 2025. Fueled by wind, the fire spread to some abandoned houses in the village and then advanced toward forested areas.


Fire units and all-terrain vehicles were dispatched from Hafik and Zara districts. After approximately four hours of intervention, the fire was brought under control.

Sinop – Türkeli Fire

A fire broke out on 19 August 2025 in a forested area in Kuşçular Village, Türkeli district of Sinop. Gendarmerie, all-terrain vehicles from the Regional Forest Directorate, fire units, and AFAD teams responded to the fire. Governor Mustafa Özarslan stated that effective intervention was carried out using five all-terrain vehicles and water supply vehicles. The fire was brought under control by 17:35, and cooling operations continued in the area.

Çorum – Çalyayla Fire

A fire broke out on 18 August 2025 in the Cıllık locality of Çalyayla Village, Çorum. Fire, gendarmerie, AFAD, and Forest Management Directorate teams were dispatched to the scene. Ten tankers, eight all-terrain vehicles, and eight initial response units from Çorum Municipality and neighboring municipalities also participated in the operations. A total of 86 personnel were involved in the operation. After the fire was brought under control, cooling operations were conducted in the area.

Gümüşhane – Kelkit Fire

A forest fire broke out on 18 August 2025 in Fatih Neighborhood of Gümüşgöze Town, Kelkit district of Gümüşhane. Intervention was carried out using six all-terrain vehicles, three fire engines, two construction machines, one bulldozer, and one water tanker. A total of 70 personnel participated in the operations. It was reported that the fire affected an area of 15 dunams, was brought under control through intervention efforts, and that cooling operations were ongoing.

Bolu – Mengen Fire

A fire broke out on 20 August 2025 in the Kıyaslar locality of Mengen district, Bolu. Teams from the Regional Forest Directorate and fire departments were dispatched to the area. Under provincial coordination, a total of seven helicopters — five from the General Directorate of Forestry and two from the Gendarmerie General Command — along with 57 vehicles and approximately 200 personnel intervened. It was announced that the fire affected an area of 20 hectares and did not reach any settlement. The Mengen–Devrek road, closed as a precaution, was reopened to traffic. The fire was partially brought under control, and suppression and cooling operations continued in the area.

Karabük – Eflani (Saraycık) and Safranbolu (Harmancık) Fires

On 30 August 2025, forest fires broke out in the Saraycık Village locality of Eflani district and the Harmancık Village locality of Safranbolu district, Karabük. Fueled by wind, the fires spread rapidly. Teams from the Forest Management Directorate, Provincial Special Administration, and municipal fire departments were dispatched to the area. Five helicopters, 39 vehicles, and 126 personnel participated in the intervention.


The Şamlar Neighborhood in Harmancık Village, Safranbolu, was evacuated as a precaution. Approximately 18 residents from 10 homes were temporarily evacuated due to the fire’s advance and returned to their homes after the fire was contained. Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz, during a statement at the fire site, confirmed that forested areas were damaged but no human casualties occurred.


Governor Yavuz also stated that aerial assets from Bartın were redirected to support Karabük, and that nearly 300 personnel were actively engaged in the field. It was reported that the fires spread rapidly due to geographic conditions and dry weather, yet intervention efforts continued without interruption.

Bartın – Ulus, Aşağıçerçi Village Fire

A forest fire broke out on 30 August 2025 in Aşağıçerçi Village, Ulus district of Bartın. It was reported that the fire started at 13:39. Upon receiving the alert, a large team comprising the Zonguldak Regional Forest Directorate, Ulus Forest Management Directorate, municipal units, Provincial Special Administration, gendarmerie, AFAD, DSİ, Provincial Health Directorate, and UMKE was dispatched to the area.


A total of 41 vehicles and 172 personnel responded to the fire, including 2 helicopters, 7 fire trucks, 6 water tankers, 4 construction machines, 2 pumps, 2 bulldozers, 2 excavators, 2 ambulances, 1 UMKE unit, 1 Turkish Red Crescent unit, and 12 support vehicles. Citizens also voluntarily participated in firefighting efforts. The fire was brought under control quickly, and cooling operations were initiated in the area. Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan visited the region to conduct inspections.

Amasya – Kızılkışlacık, Koçalan Mezrası Fire

On 28 August 2025, a forest fire broke out in the Koçalan mezra of Kızılkışlacık village in Amasya. Firefighting units from the Amasya, Taşova, and Erbaa Forest Management Directorates, along with the fire departments of Amasya and Taşova municipalities, responded to the fire. Additionally, a helicopter operated by the General Directorate of Forestry provided aerial support.

Ege Region Fires

Muğla – Yatağan Fire

A forest fire occurred on 21 August 2025 in the Hacıveliler neighborhood of Yatağan district in Muğla. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Upon receiving the alert, teams from the Muğla Regional Forest Directorate and local fire departments were dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control.

İzmir – Menderes Fire

On 22 August 2025, a fire broke out in an agricultural area in the Çile neighborhood of Menderes district in İzmir. The flames quickly spread to nearby forested land. A total of 8 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 35 fire trucks, 4 construction machines, and 239 personnel were deployed to the scene. Intensive aerial and ground operations were conducted, and the fire was brought under control. The cause of the fire was determined to be welding work carried out during unauthorized prefabricated house construction. The welder M.S.T., landowner D.Y., and contractor M.A.Y. were taken into custody by the gendarmerie.


Muğla – Seydikemer Fire

On 21 August 2025, a forest fire broke out in a wooded area near Kabaağaç neighborhood in Seydikemer district of Muğla. Fueled by strong winds, the fire spread rapidly. Response efforts included 7 helicopters, 6 aircraft, 38 fire trucks, 12 water supply vehicles, 5 dozers, over 100 forestry workers, and numerous fire departments. The fire was brought under control before reaching residential areas, and cooling operations were initiated in the region.

Denizli – Pamukkale Fire

A forest fire occurred on 23 August 2025 in the Cankurtaran neighborhood of Pamukkale district in Denizli. In the initial phase, 3 aircraft, 11 helicopters, 50 fire trucks, 8 first-response vehicles, 2 construction machines, and 307 personnel were deployed to the area. Ground teams continued operations throughout the night, and on the following morning, 9 helicopters provided additional support. In total, 46 fire trucks, 13 water supply vehicles, 21 first-response vehicles, 5 construction machines, and 380 personnel participated in the operation.



The fire was fully brought under control on 24 August, and cooling operations continued. During the investigation into the incident, E.A., suspected of causing the fire, was taken into custody and later released under judicial supervision. In his statement, the suspect claimed the fire started during repairs to a hydrofor system.

Muğla – Fethiye Yakacık Fire

A forest fire broke out on 26 August 2025 in the Yakacık neighborhood of Fethiye district in Muğla. Teams from the Muğla Regional Forest Directorate responded with aerial and ground operations. Flames spread rapidly but were brought under control through coordinated efforts by aircraft, helicopters, and ground teams.

İzmir – Seferihisar Fire

A fire occurred on 26 August 2025 in a forested area near the Seferihisar Dam in İzmir’s Seferihisar district. The İzmir Regional Forest Directorate deployed 7 aircraft, 8 helicopters, 25 fire trucks, 2 construction machines, 7 water supply vehicles, 2 dozers, and 182 personnel. Through coordinated aerial and ground operations, the fire was brought under control.

Denizli – Buldan, Çatak, Gölbaşı and Bölmekaya Fires

A fire that began on 29 August 2025 in the Kızıldere neighborhood of Buharkent district in Aydın spread rapidly to the Çatak, Gölbaşı, and Bölmekaya neighborhoods of Buldan district in Denizli. By the fourth day of the fire, aerial and ground response operations were still ongoing.


A total of 1 aircraft, 27 helicopters, 151 fire trucks, 12 construction machines, 74 first-response vehicles, and 886 personnel responded to the fire. The provincial gendarmerie command, police directorate, and AFAD were deployed to the area. Some residents were evacuated as a precaution and later returned to their homes. The Turkish Red Crescent provided support to the region, while AFAD and gendarmerie teams conducted damage assessments.

Denizli – Pamukkale, Yeniköy Fire

A forest fire broke out on 30 August 2025 in the Yeniköy neighborhood of Pamukkale district in Denizli. Two helicopters, six fire trucks, three first-response vehicles, and 25 personnel were dispatched to the scene. After approximately three hours of operations, the fire was brought under control.


An investigation determined that the fire started during cleaning activities in the yard of a livestock shed. As a result, three suspects were taken into custody. Cooling operations were carried out after the fire, and preventive measures were implemented to prevent re-ignition.


Eastern Anatolia Region Fires

Malatya – Doğanyol Fire

A forest fire broke out on 18 August 2025 in the Yalınca neighborhood of Doğanyol district in Malatya. Response teams included fire departments, AFAD, DSİ, Turkish Red Crescent, UMKE, gendarmerie, police, and the Malatya Forest Management Directorate. The operation involved 3 helicopters, 19 ground vehicles, 58 personnel, and 30 volunteers.


The fire, which damaged approximately 150 hectares, was extinguished after 12 hours of intense efforts. It was reported that cooling operations continued in the area after the fire was brought under control.


On 34 August 2025, another forest fire broke out in the Akkent neighborhood of Doğanyol district in Malatya. The fire, which started in the evening, was fought both from the air and ground, and was brought under control after approximately 17 hours of operations.


Bingöl – Genç District Fire

On 21 August 2025, a fire started in the pastureland of Bahçebaşı village in Genç district of Bingöl. The flames quickly grew and spread to nearby forested areas with oak trees and vineyards. Upon receiving the alert, teams from the Forest Management Directorate, Genç Municipality Fire Department, and gendarmerie were dispatched to the area. Ground teams conducted firefighting operations throughout the day, and the fire was brought under control.

Current Status of Fires (September 2025)

Karabük – Eflani and Safranbolu Fires

A forest fire that began on 31 August 2025 in the Saraycık village area of Eflani district in Karabük spread as far as Güzelce village in Araç district of Kastamonu. Additionally, a fire broke out in the Harmancık region of Safranbolu district.

More than 554 personnel and numerous vehicles have been deployed to combat the fire in Eflani, including 9 helicopters, 1 fire management vehicle, 17 initial response units, 72 all-terrain vehicles, 17 water supply units, 5 dozers and graders, 2 excavators, 9 fire trucks, 13 tankers, 3 trailers, 2 bulldozers, a lowbed trailer, 2 ambulances, 1 UMKE unit, 10 pickup trucks, and 5 search and rescue vehicles. In the villages of Güzelce and Akgeçit near the Kastamonu border, 39 vehicles, 3 helicopters, 5 water tankers, 17 all-terrain vehicles, 3 initial response units, and 182 personnel are actively engaged.

As a result of the fires, a total of 437 citizens have been evacuated from the villages of Güzelce, Akgeçit, Kızılören, Ahatlar, İhsanlı, Şiringüney, Oycalı, Yeşilova, and Karacalar, and 496 head of livestock have been relocated to safe areas. The Kastamonu-Karabük highway was temporarily closed due to heavy smoke but has since been reopened under controlled conditions.

Deputy Director General of Forestry Mustafa Özkaya visited the area to conduct assessments. Investigations determined that the fire in Eflani was caused by the ignition of a tent occupied by five foreign nationals working in a designated forest cutting zone; the suspects have been taken into custody. Four individuals have been placed under judicial supervision, while one was released after questioning by the public prosecutor.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated on 2 September 2025 that firefighting operations in Karabük and Kastamonu are ongoing, with intensive efforts being carried out both on the ground and from the air.

Karabük – Central Fire

A forest fire broke out on 2 September 2025 in the Aladağ area of Karabük central district. A total of 101 vehicles, 5 helicopters, and 379 personnel have been deployed to combat the fire. As a precautionary measure, the neighborhoods of Kabaoglu in Kahyalar village and Güney and Horozlar in Saitler village have been evacuated.

Denizli – Buldan Fire

A fire that started on 29 August 2025 in the Kızıldere neighborhood of Buharkent district in Aydın rapidly spread to the Çatak, Gölbaşı, and Bölmekaya neighborhoods of Buldan district in Denizli. As the fire entered its fourth day, aerial and ground response operations continued.

A total of 566 vehicles and 2,120 personnel are involved in firefighting efforts, including 1 aircraft, 17 helicopters, 21 water tankers, 32 all-terrain vehicles, 27 initial response units, 12 construction machines, 8 trailers, and trucks. Some residents in the region have been evacuated as a precaution. AFAD and gendarmerie teams are conducting damage assessments, while the Turkish Red Crescent is providing support to the area.

Director General of Forestry Bekir Karacabey stated that the fire’s advance along the western and eastern fronts has been halted, while operations continue in the northern and southern sections. Meteorological conditions indicate that wind intensity may increase.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı announced on 2 September that the fire had been fully brought under control.

Aydın – Efeler Fire

A fire broke out on 1 September 2025 in the Pınardere neighborhood of Efeler district in Aydın, affecting olive groves and forested areas. Investigations determined that sparks from a spiral during renovation work at the Security Directorate’s shooting range ignited the fire.

Nine aerial vehicles, 53 ground vehicles, and 168 personnel have responded to the fire. AFAD, police, gendarmerie, UMKE, the Red Crescent, DSİ, General Directorate of Highways, and civil society organizations have provided support. No damage has been reported in residential areas; the village of Emirdoğan has been placed under protective measures as a precaution.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı announced on 2 September that the fire had been fully brought under control.

Hatay – Arsuz Fire

A forest fire broke out on 1 September 2025 in the Aşağı Kepirce area of Arsuz district in Hatay. The Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department responded promptly, extinguishing the fire and conducting cooling operations in the area.

Karabük – Kastamonu Border (Araç – Akgeçit) Fire

A forest fire broke out on 1 September 2025 in the Karasu neighborhood of Akgeçit village in Araç district of Kastamonu. A total of 39 vehicles and 182 personnel, including 3 helicopters, 17 all-terrain vehicles, 5 water tankers, and 3 initial response units, are engaged in firefighting efforts.


Due to the fire, residents from the villages of Güzelce, Akgeçit, Kızılören, Ahatlar, İhsanlı, Şiringüney, Oycalı, Yeşilova and Karacalar have been evacuated. Ground teams responded throughout the night while aerial units began operations at first light.


Şırnak – Bestler Dereler Fire

On 2 September 2025, a forest fire broke out in the Bestler Dereler region of Şırnak at the Uğur and Sivri Tepe locations. The fire was combated by 20 personnel, four vehicles, three initial response units and a helicopter operated by the gendarmerie, and it was brought under control.


Cooling operations are ongoing in the area.

Bingöl – Genç Fire

On 2 September 2025, a fire broke out in the forested area between the villages of Servi and Kavaklı in the Genç district of Bingöl. Response efforts involved personnel from the Forest Management Directorate, the Genç Municipal Fire Department and the gendarmerie, as well as local residents and a gendarmerie helicopter.


The fire has been brought under control and cooling operations have commenced in the area.

Aydın – Söke Fire

On 3 September 2025, a fire broke out in the forested area opposite the Gaye Industrial Site in the Sazlı Neighborhood of Söke district in Aydın. The fire, whose cause has not yet been determined, was fought from both air and ground. Access roads were opened using earth-moving machinery to enable teams to advance through steep and rugged terrain. After overnight operations, the fire was brought under control and approximately 50 hectares of land were damaged.

Düzce – Yığılca Fire

On 4 September 2025, a forest fire broke out in the Hecinler location of Hasanlar Village in the Yığılca district of Düzce. The fire, whose cause has not yet been determined, was addressed by teams from the Forest Management Office and the fire department, with support from a fire suppression helicopter. Intensive ground and aerial operations are continuing in the area.

Bursa – Orhaneli Fire

On 4 September 2025, a fire broke out in a forested area near Göynükbelen Neighborhood in the Orhaneli district of Bursa. The fire was brought under control through combined aerial and ground intervention by the Regional Forest Directorate, and cooling operations have begun in the area.

Forest Fires Between 18 and 22 September 2025

Fires in Muğla

Köyceğiz (Akköprü Sazak Çayhisar and Pınar Neighborhoods)

A forest fire that began on 19 September 2025 in the Bozburun area of Akköprü Neighborhood in Muğla’s Köyceğiz district spread rapidly due to wind conditions. The fire continued to expand on its second day with flames advancing toward the neighborhoods of Sazak Çayhisar and Pınar. Ground response involved 147 fire trucks 123 vehicles 20 construction machines and 949 personnel while aerial response included 10 aircraft and 14 helicopters.

Due to the fire’s growth 230 homes in Akköprü Sazak Çayhisar and Pınar neighborhoods were evacuated as a precaution. In total 612 people were relocated to safe areas. Additionally 1027 small livestock and 515 large livestock were moved to secure zones. Initial assessments indicated that two storage facilities and two barns were damaged and 10 small livestock perished.

During the fire 20 people were affected by smoke. Nineteen received outpatient treatment while one required hospitalization. Drone imagery of the burned forested areas in Pınar Neighborhood of Köyceğiz confirmed extensive damage to green spaces.

Milas (Kıyıkışlacık Neighborhood)

A fire that started on 19 September 2025 beside a road in Kıyıkışlacık Neighborhood of Muğla’s Milas district quickly spread to nearby forested areas due to wind. Response teams from the Muğla Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Metropolitan Municipality deployed numerous fire trucks construction machines forestry workers and fire engines. Local volunteers and residents also provided support.

Aerial response included 11 fire trucks 5 water tankers 3 helicopters 2 aircraft and 80 personnel. After two days of operations the fire was brought under control. Approximately 80 hectares of land were damaged.

Fires in Antalya

Alanya – Aliefendi İspatlı and Kargıcak Neighborhoods

A fire that began on 18 September 2025 in Aliefendi Neighborhood spread rapidly to İspatlı and Kargıcak neighborhoods due to wind. Approximately 100 homes were evacuated during the fire. By 20 September the fires in Aliefendi and İspatlı were fully contained while the fire in Kargıcak was partially controlled. Cooling operations continued from 21 to 22 September and damage assessments were initiated. Initial assessments indicated that approximately 400 hectares of agricultural and forested land were damaged. Additionally two villas under construction one house with a garden and several vehicles sustained damage.

Alanya – Yaylakonak Şıhlar and Kocaoğlanlı Neighborhoods

A fire that started in Yaylakonak Neighborhood on the evening of 19 September 2025 quickly spread to Şıhlar and Kocaoğlanlı neighborhoods due to wind. As a result nearly 30 homes in Şıhlar were evacuated and seven residents were transported to safe zones by fire crews. One resident affected by smoke was transported to hospital by ambulance. Response involved four aircraft 13 helicopters over 200 ground vehicles and approximately 800 personnel.

According to information provided by Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk many gardens in the area were damaged by the fire. The fires in Yaylakonak and Şıhlar were brought under control on 21 September and cooling operations began. According to the Antalya Provincial Directorate the evacuated residents returned to their homes. Damage assessments recorded damage to three homes and one vehicle.

Serik – Bilginler Neighborhood

A forest fire broke out on 21 September 2025 in a forested area of Bilginler Neighborhood in Antalya’s Serik district. Response teams from the Antalya Regional Directorate of Forestry fire services health and gendarmerie were deployed. Aerial support was provided by two aircraft and six helicopters to combat flames in rugged and rocky terrain. The fire was brought under control.

Kepez – Aydoğmuş Neighborhood

A forest fire that erupted on 21 September 2025 in Aydoğmuş Neighborhood of Antalya’s Kepez district was quickly addressed by response teams and the flames were brought under control.

Fires in Other Provinces

Adana – Sarıçam (Turunçlu Neighborhood)

A forest fire broke out on 19 September 2025 in a forested area of Turunçlu Neighborhood in Adana’s Sarıçam district. The cause of the fire could not be determined. Teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched. Firefighting aircraft helicopters and fire trucks participated in suppression efforts. Response operations were conducted both from the air and ground.

Balıkesir – Sındırgı (Binmurt Area)

A forest fire occurred on 22 September 2025 in the Binmurt area of Balıkesir’s Sındırgı district. The fire started near an area with vineyard houses. Upon notification teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality fire department were deployed. The fire was brought under control following coordinated ground and aerial operations.

Çanakkale – Ezine (Between Akköy and Güllüce Villages)

A fire broke out on 21 September 2025 in an olive grove between Akköy and Güllüce villages in Çanakkale’s Ezine district. Driven by wind the flames spread to nearby forested areas. Response teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry conducted ground and aerial operations. Local residents supported efforts with tanker trucks and spraying equipment. The fire was brought under control and cooling operations continued.

Konya – Akşehir (Savaş Neighborhood)

A forest fire occurred on 21 September 2025 in Savaş Neighborhood of Konya’s Akşehir district. Response teams from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Akşehir Forest Management Directorate and Akşehir Municipality intervened. The fire was quickly extinguished and cooling operations commenced in the area.

Official Statements and Support

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı provided updates on 21–22 September 2025 regarding ongoing fires across the country. He stated that the fire in Aliefendi area of Alanya Antalya had been fully contained that significant control had been achieved in the Köyceğiz fire and that cooling operations were continuing. He also noted that the energy of the Alanya/Yaylakonak fire had been reduced and that efforts were ongoing to fully bring it under control. Yumaklı announced that the fires in Muğla/Köyceğiz and Antalya/Alanya-Yaylakonak had been fully contained through intensive aerial and ground intervention.

Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk

Alanya District Governor Şakir Öner Öztürk provided information regarding the fires in Yaylakonak and Şıhlar neighborhoods. He confirmed that response involved four aircraft 13 helicopters approximately 200 ground vehicles and 800 personnel and that many gardens had been damaged. He also reported that the fires in Aliefendi İspatlı and Kargıcak neighborhoods had been brought under control and that cooling operations had begun in those areas. Initial assessments recorded damage to three homes and one vehicle.

Support from the Turkish Red Crescent

The Turkish Red Crescent deployed approximately 50 staff and volunteers to the fire zones in Köyceğiz Muğla and Alanya Antalya. The organization provided food services to firefighting teams and affected residents. Its support continued uninterrupted throughout the response operations in the fire-affected areas.

Local Authorities’ Efforts

Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık stated that the Köyceğiz fire was the most intense in recent memory with hundreds of homes and thousands of animals evacuated. He also noted that schools in affected areas were temporarily closed. The Antalya Provincial Directorate announced that the fires in Aliefendi İspatlı and Kargıcak which began on 18 September had been brought under control by 20 September and that the fires in Yaylakonak and Şıhlar had been extinguished by 21 September.
