Çotanak Sports Complex

Giresun Çotanak Arena was constructed as part of a complex in the Aksu district of Giresun place on a modern site sports. The facility has a seating capacity of approximately 22,000 spectators and its construction process, which began in 2016, was completed in 2021. The project was managed by TOKİ and supervised by Siyahkalem Mühendislik. The architectural design was carried out by Bora Soykut and the implementation project was executed by Azaksu Mimarlık.

Architectural and Technical Features

The stadium was designed in accordance with international standards. The stands feature a two-tier structure while the castle rear areas were designed with a single-story order configuration. A total of 2,815 tons of steel were used in the stadium’s roof, of which 1,790 tons were allocated for the load-bearing trusses. The design and fabrication of the steel structure were carried out by Örtaş Çelik.

The exterior façade of the stadium incorporates natural red-toned soil fiber-reinforced lightweight concrete (GRC), enhancing the building’s integration with the natural environment. The Roof and façade systems were designed as separate elements to strengthen the architectural impact.

Usage Areas and Functions

Çotanak Arena was designed not only for football matches but also for other sporting events and activities. The complex includes a 1,200-seat Olympic swimming pool, a sports hall, training fields, commercial areas and parking facilities. Shops and commercial spaces are also located on the lower levels of the stadium.

Transportation and Environmental Impact

The stadium is situated in a close location adjacent to the Aksu Stream, which preserves the typical natural structure of the Black Sea region. Transportation planning provided dedicated solutions for both pedestrians and vehicles, with safety and comfort prioritized in the design of entry and exit areas. The facility has been integrated into the local public transportation network to ensure easy access on match days and during events.

Giresun Çotanak Arena possesses the distinction of being one of the most modern sports facilities in the Black Sea region, thanks to its contemporary design, functional usage areas and technical details. It continues to contribute to the region by supporting both sporting activities and social events.
