F-47 Combat Aircraft Production Agreement

The contract for the production of the F-47 next-generation fighter aircraft by the USA Air Force was awarded to Boeing company by United States President Donald Trump on 21 March 2025. This production agreement is part of the United States’ Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program. The planned F-47 fighter aircraft will replace the F-22 fighters, which are nearing the end of their service life and were produced by Lockheed Martin.

The primary objective of the F-47 Fighter Aircraft Production Agreement is to modernize the current fighter fleet of the United States Air Force and produce a next-generation fighter aircraft to replace Lockheed Martin’s F-22 under the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program.

In this context, agreement includes the following goals:

• Technological Features: The F-47 fighter aircraft is planned to be equipped with advanced sensors, engines, and stealth technologies designed to reduce radar detection. These features are intended to meet the operational requirements of the United States Air Force.
• Integration with Unmanned Systems: The F-47 is being designed to operate in coordination with unmanned aerial vehicles, aiming to provide greater flexibility and effectiveness in future combat scenarios.
• Industrial and Economic Contribution: The agreement aims to actively utilize Boeing’s production facilities in St. Louis, thereby preserving and enhancing local employment.
• Export Potential: The prospect of selling the F-47 in international markets seeks to strengthen the global competitiveness of the United States defense industry.

In this framework, the agreement also assumes a role in enhancing the United States Air Force’s combat capability as well as contributing to the defense industry and economy.

NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) is a sixth-generation fighter aircraft project developed by the United States Air Force to ensure air superiority. Under this project, the F-47 fighter aircraft, intended to replace the F-22 Raptor, and accompanying unmanned aerial vehicles known as CCA (Collaborative Combat Aircraft) are being developed.

• No public details have been disclosed regarding the financial terms of the agreement.
• However, it is estimated that Boeing will receive substantial orders over the long term and that the total value of the agreement could reach tens of billions of dollars.

• The agreement covers Boeing’s fighter aircraft production facility in St. Louis, Missouri.
• Active utilization of this facility aims to preserve and expand employment in the region.
