Istop Game (Children)

Hello Children! Today I will share with you a traditional game that we enjoy playing with our friends, having fun and spending pleasant time. The name of our game: Istop!

This game game is played with great enjoyment by children in many regions of Türkiye. Playing Istop is very simple but also very entertaining.

Here, the first thing we need is a ball and at least three players for it to be fun. First, one player is chosen as the “ebe”.

The chosen ebe throws the ball into the air while calling out the name of one of the other players.

The player whose name is called tries to catch the ball before it hits the ground. While that player attempts to catch the ball, the other players run as far away as possible.

If the named player catches the ball before it touches the ground, they shout “Istop!” and all players must stop where they are. Then, the player who caught the ball throws the ball into the air again and calls out another player’s name. Since everyone has moved away, catching the ball this time will not be easy.

If the named player fails to catch the ball and it hits the ground, the player who catches it shouts “Istop!” and all other players must freeze in place.

This part may vary from region to region. In the first version, the other players run away from the player holding the ball, and the ebe tries to hit them with the ball. The last player remaining wins the game.

The second option is that the ebe catches the ball and shouts out a color color. The other players then try to find something of that color. For example, if the player says green, they can grab a patch of grass or an item of clothing in that color. While the players search for the named color, the one holding the ball runs after them and tries to hit them before they find something matching the color.

The first player hit by the ball becomes the new ebe, or players hit by the ball are eliminated, and the last player remaining wins the game.
