Kırşehir Ahilik Museum

The Kırşehir Ahi Culture Museum is located within the Ahi Evran Külliyesi in the city center of Kırşehir, in Türkiye’s Central Anatolia Region. The museum shares the same site as the Ahi Evran Mosque and tomb. It was completed and opened to the public in 2023, with its inauguration taking place as part of the 36th Ahi Week events.

The Ahi Culture Museum has a total enclosed area of 3600 square meters and is constructed over three floors. The ground floor is designated as the exhibition space. The lower and upper floors house reading areas, study sections, and workshop rooms. Additionally, the building includes facilities for food and beverage services.

The museum’s collection features various artifacts related to the Ahi organization, Ahi Evran-ı Veli, and the Anatolian guild tradition. These include production tools belonging to different trades, traditional handicraft products, period clothing, carpets, and manuscripts. The displayed items reflect the historical development of the Ahi institutional structure.

The museum employs digital screens and interactive applications. It houses one of the largest digital screens used in museum exhibitions in Türkiye. Visitors can view digital content related to the Ahi organization and virtually participate in historical reconstructions.

The Ahi Culture Museum has been established to document the economic and social contributions of the Ahi organization to Anatolia. The museum presents visual and written materials on production, solidarity, employment, and guild principles. It also provides information on Ahi Evran-ı Veli, regarded as the patron of 32 different trades, and other Ahi figures.

The museum was constructed as part of the Ahi Evran Külliyesi Project, initiated with the approval of the Presidency of Türkiye. During the project, the Kırşehir Governorship, Kırşehir Municipality, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, the Central Union of Turkish Craftsmen and Artisans Credit and Guarantee Cooperatives, and the Confederation of Turkish Craftsmen and Artisans collaborated. The museum was implemented under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade.

The Kırşehir Ahi Culture Museum documents the historical evolution of the Ahi organization and illustrates the structural transformation of the guild and artisan culture in Anatolia. It serves as an informational center dedicated to presenting the social and economic dimensions of the Ahi institution.
