Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana was born on 13 July 2007 in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain. His talent was recognized at an early age, and at seven years old he transferred from his local club CF La Torreta to FC Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia. There, he stood out with his bold dribbling and technical intelligence, progressing through age groups faster than his peers.
Yamal began his professional career at age 15 with Barcelona B. Within a short time, his abilities earned him a promotion to the first team, and in 2023 he started playing for FC Barcelona’s senior squad. In his first season, he scored 11 goals in 65 appearances, becoming one of the team’s key players.
Having represented Spain at various youth levels, Yamal was called up to the Spain national team at age 16 in 2023. He scored on his debut, becoming his country’s youngest ever player and goalscorer. He played a pivotal role in Spain’s fourth European Championship title in 2024 and was awarded the tournament’s Best Young Player.
A left-footed player, Yamal operates primarily on the wing and is known for his effective dribbling, precise passing, and powerful shooting. His vision and game intelligence have drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi. His distinctive use of the outside of his foot to deliver crosses, known as “trivela,” is a hallmark of his play.
Yamal shows his connection to his heritage by wearing the flags of Spain, Equatorial Guinea, and Morocco on his boots. Despite his young age, his performances at both club and international levels have made a significant impact on the football world, and he is regarded as one of the brightest talents of the future.
