Sadağı Canyon

Sadağı Canyon is a natural valley located within the boundaries of the Orhaneli district of Bursa Province in Türkiye. It is approximately 58 kilometers from the city center of Bursa and 6 kilometers from the district center of Orhaneli. The canyon, noted for its geographical features, historical remnants, and thermal springs, is a natural area that attracts particular interest from domestic visitors.

The canyon is situated 1.5 kilometers from Sadağı Village in the southwest of Orhaneli District. Travelers departing from Bursa reach the Orhaneli center via the Orhaneli-Keles highway, turning right at the Doğancı Dam site after a journey of approximately 45 kilometers. From the district center, access to Sadağı Village is made along the asphalt road opposite the Karagöz statue. A vehicle road leads from Sadağı Village to the canyon entrance. Additionally, recreational area connecting paths and directional signage facilitate access to the canyon.

Sadağı Canyon has developed within the geomorphological structure formed by the Sadağı Stream, featuring elevations that reach up to 60 meters in places between rock blocks. Visitors must cross the streambed in certain sections to proceed along the canyon. Wooden bridges, staircases, and walking trails have been installed to ensure safe passage for visitors. The canyon features a walking trail of approximately 1.7 kilometers.

The most notable historical structure within the canyon is a rock bath, reportedly built during the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian (117–138 CE) in honor of his wife. This structure, surrounded on three sides by stone walls, is located in the inner section of the canyon and remains well preserved. The thermal spring, with water temperature of approximately 60 degrees Celsius, is currently utilized by nearby thermal facilities.
