Şahinbey Millet Camii ve Külliyesi is a multifunctional religious and cultural complex located in the Şahinbey district of Gaziantep, integrating worship, education, and social interaction. Opened in 2025, this complex features an indoor worship capacity of 17,000 people and a total capacity of 34,000, making it the second largest mosque in Türkiye.

The mosque represents a contemporary külliye model that encompasses not only a place of worship but also spaces for education, culture, and social engagement. In this context, Şahinbey Millet Camii ve Külliyesi stands out as a structure notable for both its spatial scale and functional diversity. The mosque was inaugurated in 2025 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and was constructed by the Şahinbey Municipality.

Architectural Features

Şahinbey Millet Camii ve Külliyesi was constructed on a total land area of 44,666 square meters, with a built-up area of 19,558 square meters. The main worship hall, with a capacity of 17,000 people, is the second largest in Türkiye; when combined with the outer courtyard and surrounding landscaping, the total capacity reaches 34,000 people. The central dome has a diameter of 34 meters and a height of 76 meters. The structure is based on four primary load-bearing systems and is designed according to classical architectural principles.

Six minarets dominate the visual appearance of the mosque: four are 107.1 meters high and two are 91 meters high. Formal and decorative elements from Seljuk and Ottoman architecture have been integrated with contemporary materials and engineering techniques, blending traditional aesthetics with modern construction methods. The interior avoids classical chandeliers; instead, specialized lighting solutions centered on calligraphy art aim to achieve visual simplicity and depth. The overall architecture presents a solemn yet simple and functional character befitting a place of worship.

Külliye and Social Functions

In line with the traditional külliye concept, Şahinbey Millet Camii incorporates numerous social and cultural spaces. The main units within the complex include:
