Süleyman Ural (born 1996, Vezirköprü, Samsun) is a Turkish military officer. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education, he graduated in 2016 from the Heavy Equipment Operator program at Afyon Kocatepe University.

Military Career

For his mandatory military service, he served in the recruit battalion in Narlıdere, İzmir, and later in the master sergeant unit in Kırklareli. After completing his service, he took and passed the exams for expert sergeant and special forces. Following his training in Isparta and Gölbaşı, Ankara, he was assigned to Afrin, Syria, his first posting. He subsequently participated in the Claw-Lock operations in northern Iraq.Claw-Lock operations.

Martyrdom

Expert Sergeant Süleyman Ural of the Maroon Berets was martyred on 8 August 2020 during a search and clearance operation in the Claw-Lock operation zone, in a clash with a terrorist organization.

Funeral and Commemoration

Süleyman Ural, who lost his life while serving in the Claw-Lock operation, was received at Merzifon Airport by Bekir Sıtkı Dağ, Acting Governor of Amasya; Hasan Balcı, Deputy Governor of Samsun; Gürkan Demirkale, District Governor of Merzifon; Kudret Kurnaz, District Governor of Vezirköprü; Erkan Ergül, Deputy Mayor, along with military and civilian personnel.

The funeral ceremony was held on 9 August 2020 in his hometown of Vezirköprü district, Samsun. The funeral prayer was led by Provincial Mufti Seyfullah Çakır at Çekalan Neighborhood Mosque. The ceremony took place in Çekalan Neighborhood, under the jurisdiction of Vezirköprü. Attendees included Süleyman Ural’s family and relatives, as well as Samsun Members of Parliament Çiğdem Karaaslan, Orhan Kırcalı, Bedri Yaşar, Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, Kemal Zeybek, Commander of the Artillery and Missile School Brigadier General Sabahattin Türker, Garrison Commander Colonel Recep Ali Üstün, Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir, District Governors, Samsun Gendarmerie Commander J. Kd. Colonel Ibrahim Güven, Municipal Mayors, and other protocol members.^【1】

Following his martyrdom, a street in the Nalbantlı neighborhood of Vezirköprü district, Samsun, was named after Süleyman Ural.

On 16 March 2022, during a ceremony held at the Atakum Culture and Arts Center, his father Arslan Ural was awarded the State Commendation Medal.^【2】
