TEI-TF35000 Turbofan Engine

TEI-TF35000 is a domestic and national engine developed to deliver the required 35,000 lbf thrust for National Combat Aircraft KAAN. This engine has been created through collaborative efforts between TEI (TUSAŞ Motor Industries) and TRMOTOR under the auspices of the Presidency of Defense Industries. TF35000 is one of Türkiye’s most significant initiatives in the field of aviation engines, designed to meet the technical requirements of fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

TEI has achieved significant advancements in gas turbine engine technologies through its research and development activities in areas such as engine component manufacturing advanced materials technology test infrastructure and production capabilities. This accumulated expertise has played a fundamental role in the development of the TF35000.

The engine’s design incorporates high-temperature resistant superalloys advanced coating and cooling technologies. These features enable the engine to meet the high performance and durability demands of the KAAN. The TF35000’s original architecture is planned to combine high thrust with low fuel consumption to support long-range missions.

The development process extends beyond mere engine production; it involves the creation of a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing design manufacturing and testing phases. Through this approach Türkiye aims to attain the indigenous high-technology capability required to develop engines for fifth-generation fighter aircraft.

The TF35000 engine is being developed as part of Türkiye’s strategic objective to reduce dependence on foreign defense systems and to strengthen the country’s position in the global aerospace sector. The engine possesses supercruise capability meaning it can achieve supersonic speeds without the use of afterburners. This performance characteristic has previously been achievable only with the engines of the United States’ F-22 Raptor and Russia’s Sukhoi aircraft.
