Orhan Ayhan was born in 1939 in Istanbul. He completed his secondary education at Istanbul Erkek Lisesi. He pursued higher education at the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. After completing his university studies, he turned to journalism and entered the field of sports media.

Professional Career
Orhan Ayhan began his journalism career in 1958. He served for many years at the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), gaining recognition particularly in the field of sports commentary. He stood out for his experience in narrating sports competitions and provided commentary across various sports branches, though he became especially associated with boxing matches. Over the course of his career in radio and television broadcasting, he narrated more than 4,000 matches.
During his time at TRT, he not only worked as a commentator but also took on production roles. He played an active role in the development of sports media in Türkiye. In addition to his broadcasting work, he also wrote opinion columns for various newspapers.
Guinness World Record
Orhan Ayhan was entered into the Guinness World Records as the person who narrated the same boxer’s matches for the longest period. He narrated Turkish boxer Cemal Kamacı’s first professional match in 1965 and continued to provide commentary for many of Kamacı’s matches over nearly 40 years. This prolonged commentary was documented by Guinness World Records under the title “sports commentator who narrated the same boxer’s matches for the longest time.”
