

Ali Yerlikaya was born on 11 October 1968 in the Selçuklu district of Konya. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Konya and graduated in 1989 from the Administration Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University. Following his education, he began his career in 1990 as a trainee administrator appointed by the Ministry of Interior.
Ali Yerlikaya is married to Hatice Nur Yerlikaya and is the father of four child.
After completing the civil administration internship initiated by the Ministry of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya served as district governor in various districts. He first served as acting district governor in Felahiye, Kayseri, and was subsequently appointed district governor in the following districts:
In 2003–2004 he served as Advisor to the Ministry of Interior and was then appointed to the General Directorate of Personnel at the Ministry of Health. In 2007 he began his governorship career with an appointment to step and was assigned as Governor of Şırnak.

On 3 June 2023, Ali Yerlikaya was appointed Minister of Interior by Presidential Decree. During his tenure at the Ministry of Interior, particular emphasis was placed on projects related to security and public order.
During his tenure as Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya engaged in cooperation with various countries on security and migration matters. He maintained contact with international organizations on Migrant policies and border security issues.
